I want to understand Buddhism, is pic related a good introduction?
>>9778823
No.
Here's why: Evola has an agenda and message I can detect through the cover.
Read The Secret of the Golden Flower. Read Campbell's Oriental Mythology. These are works are by westerners, so *especially* be sure to read Easwaran's Dhammapada first. These three will ease you into a legit understanding of Buddhist thought and the differences between east and west and why they exist.

I have noticed that Nietzsche's readers tend to be overwhelmingly male. I don't think there's anything wrong with this, but it does make me wonder how many women read him. Have you ever known a woman who read Nietzsche, /lit/?
>>9778709
>Have you ever known a woman
no
>>9778709

>>9778709

>tfw you spend so much time excited to start reading Schopenhauer then realized you don't have nearly the literary background you need to understand his work in any meaningful capacity
Now you get to read Kant. Which means you get to read Descartes and Hume. Have fun anon.
>understand three poets in total
>realize I've wasted a year on getting this specific knowledge

Thank you anon
Is there any interesting literature about the Zodiac Killer, or related to media-darling murderers like him and Jack the Ripper?
There's an entire subgenre of anarcho-primitivist writing based around the Unabomber Manifesto. There was also a fictionalized account of the Son of Sam killings that, iirc, was well received.
I'm gonna say that anything decent on the subject of the Zodiac Killer is gonna be buried under heaps of trash.
>>9778613
I'm mostly interested in these people for their relationship to the media as anonymous or vague characters. I think that, at least with the two I mentioned since I don't know much about Unabomber, that their murders seem to be swarmed by a bunch of loose narratives that many people tried to work to their own advantage.
The ideology of these killers is not so interesting, as I think they're all disturbed and unjustified anyway.
>>9778613
anarcho-primitivism preceded Kaczynski.
>Harlem "Renaissance"
>Good lit
Pick one.
I hated when they made us read this terrible stuff in school.
>>9778520
I was going to take your bait but then I realized that a so-called "Renaissance" was only capable of producing literature that is easily digestible to adolescents. So, . . . You are kind of right . . .
>>9778567
Its all just so bad.
Not even trying to be a Dick about it but you can totally see that its just boomer liberals who wrote the text books throwing a bone to blacks
Countee Cullen was pretty good. It's unfortunate that he was so often accused of essentially being an "Uncle Tom" for writing in a traditional poetic style.
>tfw there's so many books to read than you can't decide what to read next
>>9778345
Just read medieval Italian literature.
Only the personified idea of the boipucci

What is mysticism? In other words, what constitutes the 'mystic'? From intuition, I'd say it concerns some sort of direct confrontation with God/the Universe, the revelation of a truth once concealed.. I'd like to hear your thoughts though.
Also: What is the relationship between mysticism, hermeticism, and esotericism?
>>9778238
ontology.
second bump
>>9778238
understanding the limitations of access through transcendentalism and moving forward anyways.
if you want to work your way through "legitimate" mysticism, you must work your way through kant, understand what he destroys, and then the movement beyond that limitation
