He wrote on Twitter that he attempted Faulkner's other stuff but gave up. Why would he recommend another one of his books?

I really want to see him do some 19th century Russian classics that haven't been reviewed on YT. Even some 20th century Russians are worth reviewing.

So I just discovered that the only version of Leviathan that is in print is the shitty Penguin paperback (and of course those terrible print-on-demand editions as well).

I have to get a 50 year-old Everyman's Library edition at an absurdly inflated price from abebooks if I want something that won't fall apart in 2 years.

How is it possible that a work like this is not being sold in hardcover? Don't they make undergrads read it? Surely there's a market for it.

try bookfinder and ebay for alternative options.

Boi you better not have just lumped Hackett in with print on demand

I only read this in ebook format, though I'd love to see it on my shelf when I look at it.

Love E Michael Jones. I'm not religious but I appreciate his perspective. He doesn't mince words and I thoroughly enjoyed both "The Jewish Revolutionary Spirit" and "Libido Dominandi". Would love to check out "Barren Metal" aswell.

Pretty funny coming from a heretic. There is only one true church, all others are in theological and dogmatic error.

How's that a problem?
I love it when books have too many endnotes, the more the merrier.
Especially when you have books which have nearly the same amount of pages dedicated to endnotes as the text itself.
>tfw you can have a discussion about the book with the author of the notes instead of going on /lit/

Abridged or unabridged?
7 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>9798587
it's difficult to find a truly unabridged, however i read what i recall was an unabridged, (possibly not) and i thoroughly enjoyed it. it's a matter of patience, but after a certain event, things get fairly interesting. it's a book for young people looking for adventure and old men musing over revenge. i was the former and am looking forward to being the latter. i say unabridged. good luck, hope you enjoy it!
>>
>>9798587
Just read the wiki summary
>>
>>9798587
I wouldn't read abridged but I'm 70 pages in and there's a few parts already that I skimmed because they seemed completely way too unnecessarily wordy.

and i had a really hard time finding any book with a male protagonist in the fantasy isle, what gives?

Stop circlejerking over doorstopper maximalist pomo memes. This includes Gaddis (sorta), Gass, Pynchon, McElroy, Vollman, etc.

A lot of these authors have done interesting things with literature and have worthwhile things to say. This is predicated on their deep knowledge and connection with the western canon.

Most of you retards circlejerking these memes are college freshmen who consider themselves “intelligent” and decided “literature interests me” 6 months ago. You think reading these giant “difficult” novels proves something, to someone. You revel in fringe, obscure literature like McElroy because you confuse obscurity with intelligence and merit.

Read some Shakespeare. Get an appreciation for the classics. Learn to enjoy literature as literature and not as a signaling device (trust me, no one will be impressed by your pseud namedropping). Then, when you’re older and more ready, come back to these pomo memes. You’ll be a happier person.

Dang. Title got me excited you were about to talk about my region for once, /lit/. If you come Rio Grande way, read pic related. Author is the same Fehrenbach who fought in Korea and wrote This Kind Of War. Otherwise I'd say go learn about the Spanish who made first contact:

The Teachings Of Don Jaun.

Southern Cal is Bukowski country, at least LA County is. The collection of stories Erections, Ejaculations is first-rate, and his first novel, Post Office, is a great read.

Michael Connelly is the best crime fiction writer in the business, although he's lost quite a bit off his fastball of late. But prime Harry Bosch, set in LA, is great stuff; Connelly was a crime beat reporter for the LA Times for ten years -- that's what gives his books an edge that few crime writers can match. Trunk Music is top-notch, and City of Bones is real good, too. Both have some beautifully observed sequences of LA life, eg, the opening scene of Trunk Music, set behind the Hollywood Bowl. Speaking of which, visit the Hollywood Bowl this summer, anon. Maybe a little classical music. It can be a real sweet vibe. I have some fond memories of pleasant evenings spent at the Hollywood Bowl.

The Penguin Deluxe classics edition has one missing line which has been fixed in later editions. People will tell you the thing is filled with egregious typos, but no one's ever pointed them out. Just get whatever. The old vintage Where's Waldo one is ugly, so don't get that one.

Yeah, that's the only thing keeping me from picking up a copy at the moment. I just want to be sure I spend money in the right place and don't fuck myself.

I have that penguin edition. Serious wear and tear from reading through it once. I don't like the penguin deluxe because of the pages. I've got a used first edition paperback but it's falling apart, got it for like $6
