Do what Shakespeare did

Take a pre-existing story from history or folklore or mythology, and in retelling it give it depth it didn't previously have

>wanting to sodomize women

It's time to come out the closet, faggot.

Hamlet is an entertaining and dramatic story, and it's super well written with a ton of clever dialogue and general writing. However, is there supposed to be some really amazing message or meaning behind the story? It seems like it's very high quality and interesting, but it doesn't seem like hugely important or deep. Is there anything more to it than a riveting and well crafted story? The reason I suspect there's something I'm not 'getting' is because of how discussed and written about and debated almost every aspect of the play is.

>is there supposed to be some really amazing message or meaning behind the story?

No, and this is true for pretty much all of Shakespeare. You don't read/watch him for the overarching meaning: it's the intelligence, the style, the imagery, and the emotion that makes him great.
>>
>>9828942

it's good enough that you can get a lot out of it that wasn't likely intended -- some insights on human psychology, for example -- but the work on its own is already very intelligent. The To Be or Not To Be soliloquy is certainly one of the best tirades concerning suicide in all of literature, as an example.
>>
>>9828942
the thing about the play is that it's extraordinarily ambiguous. Every character has intentions that are obscured to us, the audience, and have quite a bit of possible reasoning behind them. Why did Hamlet hesitate for so long to kill Claudius? Was it an Oedipus complex? Was he held back by his religion, some subconscious fear not revealed to us? Did Gertrude drink the poison knowingly, or accidentally? Did Hamlet really kill Polonius because he 'thought' he was the king? Does Hamlet really love Ophelia? Is Hamlet's father's ghost *really* Hamlet's father's ghost? If so, why did he claim to be in Purgatory when he also said he is in a place where everything burns? Did R&G know their mission was to send Hamlet to England and therefore to his death?

There are so many facets to the story that can be explained in a billion different ways, that you can interpret and appropriate the play to mean, support, or deride anything, depending on which details you take into account and how you explain certain actions in the play

So /lit/ taking a shot in the dark here but maybe you guys can help

I'm writing a story about a female character who was traumatized by being sexually abused by an older woman, but I'm trying to do research for the story (case studies etc etc) and I'm not finding anything substantial. I mean I'm sure such instances are rare in contrast to male on male molestation or even female male but it can't be that much rarer where there is hardly any free information about such cases on the net....

Can any one point me to any references or any book that I may grab from a library or amazon about women who were sexually abused by women

Here's what you do. Let the elitism consume you and keep it going until the point where you alienate everybody around you and frequently get into pointless tiffs about varying topics. The point where you realise you can't take joy from simple pleasures and have probably lost all your friends and maybe even your girlfriend for dissing Harry Potter in the process is the point you stop. Then you start meditating just to consider the world anew, eventually transcending but not really as you'll never attain pure consciousness. But you die trying anyway.

I remember reading a quote from someone (Aristotle or Socrates, though I'm not sure), which basically stated writing was a poison to the mind, since before long, people will write everything down and memory will be a thing of the past; something along those lines.

I've been journaling for a while now, but I do sometimes feel it is more of a crutch than a necessity; when I read this quote, it really resonated with me. I'm curious what /lit/ thinks about this notion that we delegate too much of our remembering to our pens, instead of our brains.

Also, it'd be nice to find the quote again, and the real person behind it.

Call me End.

I am living a life with pain, having Paranoia and PTSD from horror games.
Even though i know they are not real they are destroying my mental condition, with halucinations and a false feeling of comfort.
Ever since i started watching Slenderman gameplay and creepy pastas my mind developed Paranoia... and with it PTSD in the future,
first being just some halucinations here and there but nothing dramatical... but it changed after i've gonne deeper and deeper into
the horror of those games... getting more corrupted... i call it like that cause it will destroy you slowely... just a like a corruption in a data file, first
targeting the out weaker layers and then destroying the core... and if there is no anti-virus or something to fix this corruption, the file will be destroyed and useless.
that is currently happening to me, Halucinations, Needing to look back, Paranoia and more stuff that slowely destroy me and my mental health.
Some of those monsters i saw in the video games disapear of the time... but one of them hold onto me like they wanted to torture me... and some ain't even from video games..
they are my own minds creations... and my mind doesnt want to stop thinking about them... it just like a curse... being in a endless maze of fear and pain... trying to cry
but at the same time not, cause you dont want to get attention and letting others know what you got... either they call you a freak or a shizopherniac.
With more and more "Friends" becomming "Enemys" i have no hope that my life will ever succed in any kind of way... it's like god made me to have pain all over the road...
and this pain is letting me think about how to lower or atleast prevent it... and then i found a way to sin... cause of the pain that damaged me i needed to find a way how
to heal those wounds temporarely... even when they dont succed... even when the sins aint that big... but i fell like the pain is just getting worser and worser...

I beg you savior of humanity, release me of my curse and let me live a life where i dont have to fear anything.

Forgive me... for i have sinned... and it wasnt right...

I'm redpilled, I'm for white nationalism, logic and rationality.
Foucault argues with his feelings about women being oppressed and how sex is a good thing, despite even virgin women. In short, cultural marxism and the reason for feminism and immigration

What is your favorite #1 Best Seller with an accompanying cinematic adaptation? Tell us, is the book *really* better than the film?

I'm torn on this one; I think its perfectly entertaining, and kind of clever, but a shallow mystery is all it really is. And Fincher is, well, kind of a top-notch hack but that's just my opinion.
