Hm?! W-what is this book?!

It seems to be some sort of textbook, but on what subject? It doesn’t seem to be about math, history or science. Is it perhaps about astrology? No… but it does seem to concern stars.

Within its pages I find text detailing an enormous hole that exists far, far off in the depths of the skies above. It is described as being able to absorb anything and everything, from gigantic beasts to monstrous boulders, even mountains, continents and other stars! It sucks up all kinds of matter with ease. To me, a man who considers all the holes in the world his lovers, to learn of a hole of that dimension… how I would relish the chance to engage it! A hole that sucks in everything would be the perfect challenge for Octa, the man who loves every hole! To pursue that passion I would gladly travel to the ends of the earth and even venture into the heavens!

I must train even more devotedly for that day. To start with, I’ll engage in some special pleasures tonight with Lady Three. Exhausting every technique, I’ll bring her holes unparalleled enjoyment!

As they say, a journey of a thousand joys begins with the first step.

>get interested in self publishing at amazon
>surprised by how simple and easy it is
>decide to check the indie best sellers
The first thing I saw was "Pretty when you cry: A dark love story" The cover was a guy with a hipster beard kissing a woman.
I scrolled through dozens of pages, and all I saw was shitty hipster books made by edgy teenagers.

Why all self-publishing tools are full of this bullshit? I don't want my work to be seen in the middle of all this shit.
I wish they charged at least 5$, so there wouldn't be so many shitty "novels"

I never tried to publish anything, anywhere son. I was hoping Amazon could be my first one.

Self-publishing is an amazing tool if you know how to use it. Plopping your stuff on there with a 0.99c pricetag as an unknown and with minimal editing is a great way to never get read.

It's been 32 days since all of this started, and now it's finally coming to an end. To think that all this started just because some anon said that the 2014 list was outdated.

I made my own versions of the infographic. Although I must say tha I know nothing about graphic design. So what I did is I uploaded all the files regarding the poll except the ones I'm posting now because I made them after I uploaded everything.
Here's the link:

https://mega.nz/#!t0tkjayL!Kffoi5-j2UWvL2XOpiDW4kFQsGJ9PKD48ERhqSwYHmI

Now you can do your own versions of the infographic and you'll probably do better than me.

It's been a lot of fun doing this for everyone and I love everyone of you.

If there are any questions, then I'll be lurking this thread. But when this thread dies then the Polling Anon will be no more.

Wait, I'm confused

Can I still post about being a neo-Kantian, categorical imperative etc if I do it in reference to Grounding for the Metaphysics of Morals?

Where should I post if I want to do close readings of philosophical texts?

hopefully not with history majors

We have a US$50 prize for the best story that features the issue's theme of "Heat." We also accept rolling submissions for general prose and poetry.

>US$50 prize for the best story that features the issue's theme of "Heat."
This thread is off to a great start.
>>
let's say hypothetically one were to take an unrelated, pre-written short story, and tack on as the final sentence: "David then set himself on fire and died screaming."

would that count?

I already posted this thread on /his/, but I wanna hear your recommendations, too.

I am really interested in old expeditions, preferably in the victorian era. Everything was so unknown back then, there were mysteries everywhere.
Sadly I don't really know much about famous explorers or expeditions, but I'd love to learn about it.

What are some of the best travel journals and adventure literature from the georgian/victorian/edwardian era (or any era, if it's interesting)? I wanna read about strange new cultures, archeological findings, jungle expeditions, seafaring, maybe hunting for animals/cryptids and so on...

Thinking about stuff by Jules Verne. I never read anything written by him, but I imagine it to be a tad too fantastique.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

/lit/ is for the discussion of fictional works only. In a century you will be a historical entity. Your form will take shape in the statistical data of am epoch long past. Ergo this thread belongs where all threads that are not about fictional writing belong and that is on the ever-versatile /his/

Any books which emphasise the feeling of being alone? It doesn't need to be a direct theme of the book. Maybe the main character who wanders quietly or calmly around and have musings that feel distinctly his, but all that feels somehow as if he is alone. Stuff like that. Preferably the book isn't edgy or about misery of a guy.
