Jonathan Green, born roughly 1950 - 1990 BPH (before post-humanism), was an pre-techwar American public intellectual and writer. While only fragments of his work survive, modern scholars unanimously place him among the greatest writers of the pre-transhuman era. After long debate, scholarship now generally accepts Green as the author of the work known as "Cancer Girl".

Sources suggest that while Green was principally known for his writing, he also performed sermons on the "YouTube" sector of the internet, just fifty years before the medium was destroyed. His teachings included bizarre comparisons of women to cereal, postulations on the mind-spirit connection of adolescents whom he believed "more pure" than adults, and cryptic communications with his alter ego, Hank. His listeners, now commonly regarded as members of his cult of personality, were known as "nerdfighters". The etymology of this word remains unknown.

Greenism is now universally regarded as the de facto religion on pre-tech war Earth. Every spring, the time of Earth's adolescence, they sacrifice the cancer ridden to their God. The Cult of Green builds vast palaces out of paper, where they worship the Green One. The Cult of Green condemns women, comparing them to boxes of cereal that are meant to be consumed by men.

I only watched the movie because I'm illiterate, but Gone with the Wind. But my understanding is that the incestuous couple were miserable because Scarlett was constantly wanting Ashley's dick.

Hey, /lit/, first time book writer here with a question. I am getting rather close to finishing my very first novel. It's a horror piece that I've been working on for a year and a half now. Before I try to send it to publishers, I'd like to do a little check off on everything I'd need to make it a perfect story. So, in short, could you guys and gals throw out some literary concepts to make sure I have them in my book? I don't want to seem like some kind of amateur.

Pic somewhat lit related, it's Nyarlathotep, a Lovecraftian monster.

Will reading your book affect me in a meaningful way?

Can I walk away saying, "After reading Anon's book, I learned -----."
>>
>>7330505
So the theme/ moral? Yup, I've got that covered. Any good way of driving it home? Like, I hear people discuss novels like, "Oh, Mr. Bla's book covered themes of revenge and lust," yet how do they really make those themes prevalent? Simply making it a large aspect of the plot and the characters?
>>
>>7330508
I'd say so.

Try to think of your book in as simple a way as possible.

When you boil it all down, what words do you use?

>Stolen Legacy: The Egyptian Origins of Western Philosophy
this meme is getting out of hand
>>

>argues against the long-taught theory that human civilization started in ancient Greece, defending its origins as coming instead from Africa.
Nobody to my knowledge has claimed human civilisation comes from the Greeks.
It is claimed that Western civilisation comes from the Greeks.
>George G. M. James demonstrates how some of the greatest Greek scholars like Herodotus, Hippocrates, Aristotle, were actually influenced by long-held Egyptian philosophy and teachings.
Well that's quite a bit different to what the title and the first sentence claim.
Its a lot more milder.
Has anyone ever denied the Egyptians influence on maths or medicine?
And for them to be influenced they'd have to be able to read and live in a city with access to writings from across the Mediterranean - a civilisation in other words.

Any recommendations for modern Chinese or Taiwanese literature (preferably from 1900 onward)?

I looked for a Chinese /lit/ chart, but couldn't find one.

I've read Ha Jin's Ocean of Words and enjoyed it quite a bit, but I guess I consider his work to be more Western in style.

Thanks in advance.

What, to read? Bullfinch or Hamilton. The stories were all oral tradition forever then they were collected. Ovid's Metamorphoses if you want an earlier lyrical version of the myths.
>>
>>7330434
Yeah, to read. I know the stories and the characters (Medusa, the Minotaur, Achilles, etc) but I don't know why I know them. So I want to read the source. Thank you for the info and suggestions.

Just checked them both out. Exactly what I'm after. Thanks pal. Much appreciated. /thread
