>try to kill postmodernism
>only make it stronger
explain?
Is this about irony vs. sincerity?
All text from him (not too many I know) kinda sound "very nice", good message, but when I know some guy was (also?) all about fucking young chicks doubt about all intentions creep up my mind I stop believing.
That's why we need Camille "no appetite for deconstruction" Paglia.
>>7391785
He couldn't attain sincerity, so he anheroed. After his death he became a meme. Literally turning into the embodiment of everything he loathed. Way to get btfo
>considers himself patrician
>doesn't even speak fluent French
>he polluted his knowledge of English, the logical conclusion to language, with some disgusting Continental babble
>learn French
>cultivate beautiful enunciated Parisian accent
>love reading aloud or subvocalising while reading texts because the language is so beautiful
>finally meet actual Frenchmen
>all sound like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3sOlpoQYNo
pas du tout, on a une langue moche et moribonde.
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
A BOAT, beneath a sunny sky
Lingering onward dreamily
In an evening of July—
Children three that nestle near,
Eager eye and willing ear,
Pleased a simple tale to hear—
Long has paled that sunny sky;
Echoes fade and memories die;
Autumn frosts have slain July.
Still she haunts me, phantomwise,
Alice moving under skies
Never seen by waking eyes.
Children yet, the tale to hear,
Eager eye and willing ear,
Lovingly shall nestle near.
In a Wonderland they lie,
Dreaming as the days go by,
Dreaming as the summers die;
Ever drifting down the stream—
Lingering in the golden gleam—
Life, what is it but a dream?

Was Marx right to turn Hegel on his head? What do you all think of dialectics? Are you an idealist or materialist? Will we ever reach a final synthesis or is that contradictory to the nature of dialectics?
hegel, get down from there.
>>7391601
Yes, Hegel is full of bullshit anyway.
>>7391601
Wouldn't final synthesis be infinite stability? Like a nice big hard rock?
Have Fiction books significantly changed your mindset/lifestyle? If so, which ones and why?
Is there even a reason to read fiction besides killing time? For example, how would a book like Moby Dick change you when it's about whaling(which you most likely don't participate in.)?
>>7391466
Hey, that's my neighborhood. Strange seeing that on here.
>>7391466
DEJA VU
>>7391466
>Have Fiction books significantly changed your mindset/lifestyle?
No.
What's your opinion on people who read books like this? Scumbags right?
Most people are chill
>>7391460
Who?
I would not like to have a conversation with somebody who unironically enjoys football. It is one of the worst things to happen to our working class. I hate it and it should be banned.
Just a few days left.
Are you hopelessly behind, or coming close to your wordcount goal?
Pic was unrelated, I'm at 15K.
I've made tighter deadlines, but those were important.
Don't even give a shit to be honest family.
For 4 years now I have written maybe 4 pages and then given up. Guess I'm just trash
Post books that are fun/funny.
>inb4 define fun
I'm not in the mood today, just finished an essay for Uni and want to curl up in bed with a Paige Turnah.
Anything by Christopher Moore.
Fool and Lamb are particularly good.
>>7391411
Cheers.
>>7391418
Have fun. Both made me laugh out loud.
Are we allowed to have a thread for questions that don't deserve their own thread?
What word processor or text editor do you guys use?
microsoft word
What is the Evangelion of literature?
Currently deciding what college I will go to and I know I will go in undecided, but my question is there anything to do beyond trying as many new things as possible to figure out what I will do with my life or just put my head down and try to grind for a job that can pay well and hope for the best? Essentially, should I try to work a probably unfulfilling job and try to read books on the side (I personally don't think that would happen) or go into a field related to philosophy or literature and ride the struggle bus for the rest of my life? I don't see any market or job upswing.
>Christianity is much more atheist than the usual atheism.
WHAT DID HE MEAN BY THIS?
>>7391016
Richard Dawkins, peace be upon his name, disagrees
>>7391016
Look at his lectures. Lots of his ideology sifts through in those and he goes back to the same motifs a LOT.
The inkling I got from him is that Christianity is centered on the death of the "Big Other" i.e Christ and God on earth, and, he says, the realization that we are truly alone. He goes on about this at the end of Perverts Guide to Ideology during the Christ scene specifically (close to the end, or actually the end of the movie)

Hitler wasn't violent enough.
Please recommend me books that will help me become more unemployable.
I guess Bukowski

Which works?
How many languages do you read, /lit/? EOPs need not apply.
Me:
English - fluent, read classical literature
French - fluent, read classical literature
Japanese - intermediate, can read manga and short stories without too much trouble
I'm fluent in English, French and German and I've been working on Japanese for a couple of years, now. I also went through a lot of Latin but it isn't much relevant. What do you mean by “French classical literature”?
fluent in portuguese and english. I can read russian but only at a snail's pace.
english
Just bought these for 2€, are they any good? I kinda like Jodorowski's films, but is this book worth reading?
>>7390582
>Jodorowski
>worth reading
No. Only if you are a chairo or a stupid gringo.
>>7390599
Whats a chairo?
>>7390582
I like Bolsillo editions. They're neat. didnt know Jodo wrote a book, whats it about?
>not the best recent sci-fi author
Some of Card's stuff is great. Was a huge fan of Enders Shadow.
Alastair Reynolds and Iain M. Banks both blow that gaybashing retard out of the water.
Peter F. Hamilton was promising but he seems to have given up on actually writing good science fiction. He just relies on the established fanbase buying any turd he puts out. Case in point; The Great North Road.

sorry reynolds is garbage
reynolds is literal reddit tier STEMjerking, without even good STEM, god awful stories, and horrid pacing/prose. literally the worst of every world.
