Half of you still watch anime and dream to be great writers even though all you've read is the meme trilogy. This board is a joke. You guys haven't even fucking lived yet.

Quality post, quality thread, thanks for contributing to this quality board.

Still better then most of 4chan.
Least /lit/ still has dreams
Everyone else only has memes.
So tell me, was shitposting part of your plan?
>>7586760
most posters here probably haven't read a single work of the meme trilogy
What are the authentic institutions of wisdom in the modern West? Academia is the closest thing I can think of but it is too concerned with politics and the need for approval to have benevolence or freedom of ideas. And of course government has been out of favour since forever. Is /lit/ an institution?
Is there any place that we haven't made a fortress of our own minds and retreated there, except in the most basic matters of life - where to eat, who to fuck, isn't that film cool? Most of us are turned so far from meaningful public life that we are figurative hermits, worse off than even feudal peasants or hunter-gatherers.
/rant, I am sad.

Does your mommy still dress you up for work in the mornings, anon?
>>7586659
Turn them off, put them somewhere far out of reach. Basically force yourself to have time to question whether it is really necessary to use them before you do.
Apart from that, just stop yourself whenever you see yourself shitposting. For instance, instead of making this shitty thread, read a book. Easy peaz m8.
Instead of waiting for replies, just go read.
Anyone read the Force Awakens novelization? Is it well written, opinions of Star Wars aside?

What's your honest opinion about this book?
Kampfy as hell.

Kampfy as hell.
I don't think many people consider Hitler as an intellectual. Its the 1930s version of Eliot Rogers manifesto basically
ITT: People who are automatically intellectually inferior
>fat people
OP
>americans
People that gratify themselves with sexual pleasures.
Sensual pleasure obscures the intellect and sex is the greatest of sensual pleasures. Lust darkens the intellect even more than gluttony.
where to start with alchemy
particulary, interested in philosophical aspect of it
>>7586405
Jung wrote a fair amount about it.
Try him.
Hi guys.
How do you incorporate the seemingly untranslatable-to-fiction ideas from hard philosophy into your writing?
This seems really hard to me. Why can't I just write a simple story, Why must it be so abstract and allegorical?
How do you do it?

Is writing well an innate talent?
Yes.
Source: I could write real well before the accident.

prose flows like flowey prose, if it flows well it means your well is overflowing
it's innate if you've always liked playing with words

Is 'manufacturate' a word?
Pic unrelated.
>>7586331
I can use it in a sentence if need be.
>>7586331
Sure. Do you mean it as a noun, a collection of items which have been manufactured? If you mean it as a verb, then less likely (unless you provide a convincing usage)

They say that the wise and thoughtful man keeps to himself. Does that mean that philosopher as Plato and onward have been inferior minds?

What is the best motivational book out there?
how to make fake friends and endlessly grab at money
by donald duck
the Iliad/ Odyssey
The bible.
>There are people among us that still believe in a dead white man being their divine salvation.
Rec me a book (fictional) that drags Christianity through the dog poop. I need some rehabilitation.
Like a vehemently a-religious Dickens or John Kennedy Toole.
Try reddit.

The Bible
Kierkegaard, Evola, Schopenhauer, Thomas Merton
Your problem is with the shallow literalist Christianity of Walmarts and minivans. There is a very rich, passionate, and intellectually rigorous tradition lurking right under the surface. I'm not even Christian, but I agree wholeheartedly with the Christianity of Kierkegaard and Merton. Evola and Schopenhauer are just for dismantling the shit out of naive Westboro-tier christianity
Have there been many great writers that didn't know their literature or were they all pretty well versed?

Are the One Thousand and One Nights worth a read or are they only interesting because of their historical significance?
What a dumb question. How would it have historical significance if it wasn't at least somewhat good in the first place?
>>7586172
>e first place?
but not in the second
see the decamoron
see a hundred similar books
they become outdated

The point is if you're asking this question in >2016 then it probably still has some relevancy.
