What does it mean when the only viable constructive criticism of a work of fiction you've found is simply a criticism of one's own interpretation of said piece of fiction?

Here's some constructive criticism: your post is too confusing to draw meaning from. Please rephrase it in a way which makes some sense

I'm reading through A Confederacy of Dunces, and I'm enjoying the comedy a lot. Ignatius seems like proto /r9k/ anon, it's pretty great.

There's something that I feel like I'm missing about him though. What's the significance of his Big Chief writing tablets? I'd never heard about them before until I started reading ACoD, so I get the feeling that I'm missing another magnitude of absurdity.

They are wide-spaced tablets for little kids to practice handwriting on. Ignatius's use of them for writing his philosophical opus signifies his childishness and lack of self-awareness.

>Ignatius seems like proto /r9k/ anon

He has a girl who is interested in him. And he reads and has a degree.

That's the antithesis of the jugpissers on /r9k/

I'm looking to get back into Gene Wolfe.

Having read BotNS, Latro, Peace and The Fifth Head of Cerberus where should I go next?

Wizard Knight and rest of Solar cycle
>>
The Wizard Knight is not too bad.

It's aimed at younger children, but has some of his similar themes of false memory.

Here's mine. Its about gorilla munch

Come after tonight
we'll live and puke
and i will fill you up
until you cannot breathe
shove my fist into the box
grab handfuls with blood soaked meat hammers
and smash it into my face
pellets cascade into tears
satiation is a goal of
those who fixate on the moribund
there will be no tears now
only dreams...

>From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some boys came out of the town and jeered at him. “Get out of here, baldy!” they said. “Get out of here, baldy!” He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the boys. And he went on to Mount Carmel and from there returned to Samaria.

The Lord is just!

I'm describing a beautiful monster which the characters in my story decide to save rather than slay. how do I make this an understandable decision? How can I convey beauty and danger?

Strength is beautiful. The ability to actualize one's will is beautiful. Being absolutely and perfectly free is beautiful. Being unstained by doubt, self-hatred, or misery is beautiful.

this is really good. I didn't know that this was what my story was about, but all my characters struggle with these things, and the monster is like that. Very cool, thanks. will post more monsters if people ask

because you might like them.
why should we make you read anything? it should be an activity that isnt compulsory. if you don't want to read, or need some specific reason to read books, then you don't have to.

it would be nice for you to read some of this literature, not all of it is worthwhile, but it can help you to see the world in a different way, relate to others better, and improve communication!
