How much time in a library is considered "weird"
I go to mine like 4 days a week for 2 or 3 hours, and I feel like I am there way more frequently than most people who just stop in to use the computer for afew minutes
The one near me is small so the people who work there know I am there the entire time
Nobody cares how long you're in there.
man i love the library
sometimes I get these spontaneous rushes of euphoria walking around them. don't even know how else to put it.

around one second mate
Where do you go if you want to read about a book? Sparknotes is an ok read, but kinda rudimentary and lacking any serious opinions or insights. There has to be something more on this big internet.
For example, I just finished War and Peace and I feel I could read a whole other book just talking about it.
academic papers/journals

Didn't your edition have a bibliography?
>>7627514
This.
Sometimes there's some good stuff on Wikiversity as well, but it depends on the book.
Hey guys, gunna go to my local library today and get a card.
I go there afew times a week and hang out to read, I always say hello to the people working there but I have yet to get a card.
Any tips on how to go about doing this?
What book should I check out first to make a good impression?
On my reading list I have "A Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man" by Joyce, but Im scared that will make me look like a pretentious tryhard
>What book should I check out first to make a good impression?
Now that's what I call autism.
Ask for a card, take out any book you want, nobody gives a fuck you autist

Since this board is all about the use of the English language, may as well stretch it to include spoken language.
Which English speakers pronounce Wales and whales differently?
i.e. which say "wh" with a clear H sound at the start?

is that houellebecqs dad?

Where do I go once I truly grow out of /lit/ but still enjoy how quick discussions can flow without people double-thinking what they say due to having an e-name to uphold?
I'm getting half sick of your bullshit guys.

Is there any evidence DeLillo was ever young?
Opinions /lit/?
I liked it quite a bit. It was more opinionated than I thought it would be, and I didn't always agree with what was said, but overall it was very interesting and informative.
I recommend it.
>>7626648
Seconded, I enjoyed it.

pop history dude. Its language makes it clear that its written to appeal to the new atheist/ mainstream "nerd" culture.
A lot of new-agey beliefs weave their way through the book and its a very shallow probe into genuine intellectual spheres.
Read this if you're the kind of pleb who loves factoids
What do you think about Henrik Ibsen?
He is ok+

I love his tits
who is that
Hello /lit/
I do not come here often, but I guess this is the best place for my thread.
I am very found of poetry and when I find very good poems I keep them in my compilation.
This compilation of mine does not contain more than 25 poems, I know them all perfectly.
I want to ask you anon, which are your most favourite poems, so I can add some to my compilation.
Protip:frenchfag posting
>>7626535
What are the 25 poems you currently have?
English poems?
Les fenêtres, Guillaume Apollinaire
Le dormeur du val, Arthur Rimbaud
Plutôt la vie, Andre Breton
Will it help me understand?
>>7626497
understand what?
pynchon is juvenile shit. hold yourself to a higher fucking standard please.
>>7626536
b... but muh memes
>>7626553
a new age cometh. i have been the one perpetuating the juvenile pynchon meme, soon it will overtake, and people will stop wasting their time on such insignificant trash, spending weeks of their time sifting through shitposting, i will be the one to bring lit out of its dark age of ignominy, giving birth to a refreshing age of sincerity and order, where a reader won't be shit on for enjoying the precise balance of plot, prose, themes, and characters, where a reader can rest easy knowing that he did not miss anything the second time around, and that their time was not spent in vain forcing themselves to acquire taste for genre-tier scatalogical humor, or OED laced DUDELMAO memes, i am here to usher in an era of hope, reason, and the return of Literature.
Is it good?
It's okay.
Can't say that I approve of that cover, which looks like a pregnant Virgin Mary icon combined with the Masonic symbol for Baal.
Cover looks blasphemous.
what does vv. mean in footnotes? I'm reading the bible and the footnotes are really detailed and sometimes say things like--
"the destroyer: here presented as a distinct agent (cf. 2 Sam 24:16; Prov 28:24; Isa 54:16 [KJV "waster"]), although in vv. 13, 27 the attack comes from YHWH himself."
I can parse out what every other abbreviation means but not this fucking "vv." and it shows up a shit ton.
thanks
holy fuck I just figured it out. it means verses. fuck me I'm an idiot
try google. it's a p kewl site http://www.chacha.com/question/what-does-vv-stand-for-in-the-bible
Could you post a picture of your Norton Critical please?
I might pick one up, but I'd like to see how big it is.
