What's the /lit/ opinion on revisions?
Do they potentially threaten the ideal of a standalone work since the author may no longer hold the same values?
Pic only slightly related, let's keep it on-topic.
i really don't fucking care

Be careful not to cut yourself on all that edge.
I've never read King, never will. What kind of revisions are you talking about? Is King pulling a Rowling and actively seeking to change the main character's ethnicity for the movie? If so, then it shouldn't surprising to you. King just writes detailed movie scripts.
Can you even name a more Tragically written character? Probably Not.

"... [T]he men who produce works of genius are not those who live in the most delicate atmosphere, whose conversation is the most brilliant or their culture the most extensive, but those who have had the power, ceasing suddenly to live only for themselves, to transform their personality into a sort of mirror, in such a way that their life, however mediocre it may be socially and even, in a sense, intellectually, is reflected by it, genius consisting in reflecting power and not in the intrinsic quality of the scene reflected."
-- Marcel Proust, Within a Budding Grove
Did Proust destroy the "literary lifestyle" concept and all other excuses used by baddies who refuse to just gitgud at writing?
>men
>not women
sexist pig.

it sounds more like a justification for an introspective and shy man to recreate his life and explain away his poor social life

Things moving
can't be done
The passing of moments
Why do cultural christians say that laveyan satanism is not individualist and that it's an inversion of morality? Some of the rules of pic related seem very in line with the non-aggression principle as well. Christianity sounds more collectivist to me.
>/lit/ is for the discussion of literature, specifically books (fiction & non-fiction), short stories, poetry, creative writing, etc. If you want to discuss history, religion, or the humanities, go to /his/. If you want to discuss politics, go to /pol/.

shitstorm? why?
Hey, /lit/, I'm new here. I recently decided to cut out video games from my life and I want to replace it with reading. I deeply enjoy philosophy books and want to indulge in multiple different works not only for enjoyment but also in the hopes that I can become more knowledgeable. However, one of the problems I have when I read is that my mind drifts. Too often I'll read and a song will be stuck in my head and it'll take me out of the novel. Or I'll think about something else I could do. Basically, it's difficult to focus, is there any way to remedy this or will reading more make this easier?
Thanks, also any recommended books? I want to read pic related.

>hopes that I can become more knowledgeable
>>9854055
yup
Had the same problem as you and honestly it's just a thing of reading more and trying your hardest to focus on what you're reading, your brain will eventually get used to not being bombarded with information and you'll be able to understand it.
If you want to get into philosophy check this:

All have written books and make claims about our political nature. But who is on the right?
what do you believe are the central views that the give the most realistic sense of reality?
personally seeing humans as a complex environmentally molded fractions of mutated self replicating dna in a completely meaningless eternal void where neither size nore time exist (among many other intrinsic concepts that don't actually exist) seems like the most arguable concept
