On account of it being World Poetry Day, I'm looking for new poetry to read. Who are your favourite unpublished/reasonably unrecognized poets?
We're talking social media level, like Savannah Brown or Meggie Royer tier.
Just a link to a profile is fine but if you'd like, tell my why you like them.
Feel free to shamelessly self-promote as well. I'd be happy to take a look at your work.
>Even now, the OP is still sitting there, staring at his computer screen. Constantly refreshing his newly created thread in the hopes that someone will reply to him.
>His life, once one filled with love and affection from those no longer close to him, has now been reduced to finding happiness in these anonymous posters that choose to respond to him, which usually involve affronts to his sexual orientation.

Are there any philosophical works that deal a lot with the nature of man and the nature identity, especially in relation to their fellow man and society? If a man is stripped of his lineage, history, possessions, professions, and friends, then what, in society, is he if anything at all? I know Heidegger writes a lot about the nature of "Being", but I'm moreso interested in constructions of identity and what it means to define oneself, or be defined by others and other things.
I'm reading Frankenstein and I'm curious as to how many philosophical angles may be floating around the mythos of it all.

Not quite sure at what you are aiming for, but Thomas Hobbes(book: Leviathan), describes people in their natural state ("No arts; no letters; no society; and which is worst of all, continual fear, and danger of violent death: and the life of man, solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short").
John Locke does it too (kinda) but more oriented towards the society and state

>to define oneself, or be defined by others and other things.
Sartre is the exact blend of phenomenology, sociology and psychology that you're looking for.
I'm trying to wrap my head around Stirner. What are some examples of spooks, or ways spooks influence our thinking today?
Obviously religion/the church is one example. What others?
ideology *sniff*
"freedom" "romantic love" "democracy" "technology" "science"
just the obv. ones.
>>7837087
That's a buzzword. What do you mean by that? A socially democratic point of view is a spook? What does that even mean?
waking up in a heat that robs me of functionality
this morning even the sun hates me
like a stage light that won't leave you alone
i dreamed of a world where i didn't have to walk
and i just floated around in a bed
i regret ever waking up
my only reason to leave bed is to get coffee
this morning i poured a bigger cup than usual
this morning i packed a bigger bowl than usual
sometimes i wish i could overdose on weed
my perception now filtered though a muddying haze
things seem better this way
i watch as a dragonfly lands on my windowsill
it makes me feel a bit more calm
i wish i had a million eyes
then at least one could see past
the need for a purpose in life
hair unkept and in yesterday's clothes
i wonder if i would be stared at if i left the house
day by day life becomes more dreadful
i might just stay in and bake
just another stoned girl in america

funny little poem to post on an image board, disappointing that someone deems it worth publishing
waking up in the sun, that imagery strikes true
What's your interpretation of The Great Gatsby? Is it an allegorical critique of capitalism or a lambasting of the common perception of the American Dream?
To me, I view the character of Daisy as representing the very capricious and subjective American Dream while Gatsby represents the civilian who relentlessly pursues that Dream (Daisy), ultimately losing their innocence/life in the process.

I think it's about the tragedy of romanticism, and how the sublime, and our solipcisms, fall apart when faced with the banalities of real life.

I call my new book "Shit".
It's a story about a man who accidentally locks himself in the bathroom and has to eat his own feces to survive.
Would you read this?
No, it's racist against Indians for featuring a bathroom.
Absolutely not.
>>7836798
as an indian - can confirm. i already feel microaggressed upon by the premise of the story.
What does /lit/ think of The Bell Jar? I haven't read any Plath prior to this novel and I honestly don't know much about her as a writer.
Although it's semi-autobiographical and seems to be following a subject I have no interest in what so ever, fashion. It's still managing to keep me entertained and rustled about how much of a fucking eejit Plath is and how she seems to shift blame from herself to everyone around her.
It has a clear and articulate understanding of depression, which many writers have tried and failed to capture. For that I have to give Plath credit. But story-wise, the novel really betrays itself at the end with the wholeI'm gonna kill myself, but wait this other undeveloped character killed herself first, I guess I'm not gonna kill myself now.
>>7836780
>fucking eejit Plath is and how she seems to shift blame from herself to everyone around her.
wowee have you heard of this thing called depression?
>>7836812
Oh I'd totally agree that she captures depression well. it's kind of subtle unlike a lot of authors who scream THE CHARACTER / I AM DEPRESSED!
also I haven't finished it so i shalt not read the spoiler tag.
Would 5-10 years of fame be worth it if it meant living under the shadow of your early work? How would you feel if your groundbreaking novel was now considered an outdated relic?
>>7836759
that bitch looks like someone glued a mop to a big-ass thumb.
>>7836841
you've never read any Bruce Sterling, have you? that's okay. i'm sure there's gonna be a new Harry Potter book out any day now.
if you are ever feeling adventurous, check out his novel "The Caryatids".

Hi, /lit/.
Lately I've been highly interested on Chinese culture and I would like some books recommendations. Also, as I spend ton of time at the bus would like to know some podcasts since I can barely concentrate reading there. Thank you in advance.
