My campaign closes today, in a few hours, and anyone who nominates the book gets a free copy if it succeeds. Kindle Scout is a great service; look into it! If I get enough nominations, I get a publishing contract. I've had wonderful feedback so far. Why don't you tell me what you think?
You can read a bit about me, and 5,000 words of the book, and a synopsis. I will bump with fan art! :D
It would take very little of your time, and it would mean a lot to me.
The campaign is here:

Thank you.
My friend, Rhiannamation, loves the book. She constantly draws me fan art about her favourite characters. Here is the main character, Fetch Underwood.
Here is Ruby introduced in Chapter 2
Although Rhianimation prefers her with hair to match her name
Are there any books out there that will keep me from pulling the smooth trigger of my .45 kissing my temple

Writer thread:
Times you had to write something that really hurt to put in a story.
I'm writing a really brutal abuse scene and I feel fucking awful about it. I keep tearing up and needing a minute, and then just keep making it worse. Like, fuck.
ur so deep
I'm having the opposite problem.
I don't know how to make characters anything but catalysts for the story so I wind up not being attached to them and then the story peters out.
>>7869394
You gotta think about why it has to be that character in there, instead of just a prop.
Give 'em a backstory even if you never write it down. Give them hobbies and shit that no one will ever know about. Then give the reader a reason to care if they die.
Post your favorite Joyce sentence

Oh boy, I sure am enjoying the Charles Dickens novel I'm reading. I'm definitely not reading it just because I'd be seen as a pleb if I haven't read it. No way, just huge amount of enjoyment!
Dicken's inst patrician. Dude wrote fluffy serial novels for housewives to read in easily digestible installments.
>>7868951
Just read his Nell Trent book. It's not normie. It's literally otaku moe shit.
Did you know that Kafka envied Dickens for his ability to write an engaging story?
"I have been reading about Dickens. Is it so difficult and can an outsider understand that you experience a story within yourself from its beginning, from the distant point up to the approaching locomotives of steel, coal, and steam, and you don’t abandon it even now, but want to be pursued by it and have time for it, therefore are pursued by it and of your own volition run before it wherever it may thrust and wherever you may lure it.
I can’t understand it and can’t believe it. I live only here and there in a small word in whose vowel (‘thrust’ above, for instance) I lose my useless head for a moment. The first and last letters are the beginning and end of my fishlike emotion."
ITT: Tell us about that story idea you've been thinking about writing and we'll discuss whether or not it is shit and why.

I have an idea where there's a good guy from a peaceful village and with a love interest but then a bad guy comes and threatens his way of life so the good guy goes on a journey at the end of which he fights the bad guy and defeats him and then he goes back home and settles down with his love interest
>>7868685
Oh I forgot, the good guy also has a mentor/father figure that the bad guy kills at the beginning
One of the last practitioners of ancient Greek religion is cursed by Hephaestus for promoting an iPhone in the god's name for a gag Apple ad. (Heph prefers Android, obviously.) Now he can only express emotional pain in the form of jokes. The worse the pain, the funnier the jokes tend to be. Book follows his new career as a comedian as he spirals into ever-deeper despair.
Is this a good book?
No.

Even DFW suspected this
The viral marketing campaign goes on, and 4chan is part of that

How self satisfied will I feel after completing IJ? That's how you sell me the book. Will it make me into one of the glorious beau monde literati?
Who else here can read shit written in other languages even if you don't know how to write/speak them? I'm spanish and I can easily read stuff in french, portuguese and italian. Never studied none of them.

Which Philosophers do you think represent each individual 4chan board best?
I'll start:
/mlp/- Weird sexualised view of horses so Nietzsche
/r9k/- Absolute disdain for all women-Schopenhauer
/ck/- Epicurus perhaps?
/lit/ has been prominently represented in the Nausea by Sartre.

Nietzsches relation with horses wasn't sexual though ?
is the book worth reading?

As much as the film is worth watching.

Yeah, it's pretty fun. A lot of anons here talk about reading up on the politics of Russia at the time to get into the Brothers S but it's completely unnecessary. They're just enjoyable reads.
