Have any of the major philosophers offered an opinion on Martin Luther and secondly the results/effects of his 'reform'?

Luther was a theologian, not a philosopher. He is a nonentity in philosophy.

But what he did changed the Western day-today world more dramatically then anything else. He's THE proto-modernist.
I don't get it.

it's a meme.
or I think it's about the world being corrupt and if you're not corrupt then you won't fit in.
The only reason why it's considered literature is due to its popularity among the youth (back in the day) and the censorship controversies it inspired.
Other than that, the symbolism is blatantly obvious (books says it right in your face) and nor is it impressive by any literary standards.

>nor is it impressive by any literary standards.
you are right objectively. but it does touch peoples' hearts in this day, so it does appeal to the audience and is well-done in that respect.

Should I devote this year to learning philosophy and reading the greats or to trying to have as many and as varied and fulfilling sexual experiences/adventures as possible?
I only have the time properly for the one and the other'd be kind of a tack on
depends, hetero or homo?

I enjoyed them a lot

I was a moron and read Wallace to see what all the fuss was about, including the entirety of IJ and I have come to the conclusion that I largely am not a fan, particularly of his prose works and short stories. Despite thinking he is a big meme, I found some of the essays sober, coherent and actually kind of fun to read too. I'd say the ones he did in Consider the Lobster are probably his best.
Consider the Lobster is pretty insightful.
if you haven't read it yet, A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again is probably his best.
All memeing aside, I truly wish he was still with us. We'll never have another Wallace, or a writer that can do what he does. All we have left to do is keep scrapping together what's left of him, reminding ourselves of the hole he's left us in.
How patrician is your uni? Got accepted to pic-related but I'm not so sure of the culture.
My cousin went to that uni, she came back pregnant. lol
I think uni depends on what you're studying desu. My uni has a great English/Philosophy department, but our History and classics departments are a bit lacking.

I thought it was pretty good. Exaggerated for dramatic effect of course, but it offers a more realistic perspective of oper borders and humanism than alot of what comes from the leftist media.
Do you think you could find the quote near the end where they say something like "whiteness isn't about your appearance / the colour of your skin, it's about how civilized you are" or something?
I can never remember it.

it's post 1985 stephen king, so yea, it's shit
I just finished the audiobook, and it's the first Stephen King novel that I've actually 'read'...
Is it just me, or is there more truth to that Harry Potter copypasta than most people think?
Every time he dresses up plot contrivances as "the past harmonizes", and the characters are plain as shit, an earnest everyman and a well built blue eyed blonde virgin with an insatiable sexual appetite that has all of the good aspects of stereotypical 50s/60s female devotion and none of the bad ones. There's no great insight into Oswald, JFK, the historical customs...if there's any judgement, it's usually just "this is old thinking and sucks".
Even the stuff I liked, like the romance, was just your typical pulpy romance dressed up with vague thriller aspects. The structure is dumb as shit, King gets around the problem of not killing Oswald months before the assassination by blessing the lead character with a coma and amnesia for months. Then on the day of the assassination, he has to drive like 40 miles to Dallas with mere hours to go, just because he is a dumbass. It's so artificial.
Man, if this is what is passing for grade A lit these days...

It's a fine piece of fiction that will hold your attention and entertain you. The ending is a bit disappointing, but that is to be expected from Stephen King. It doesn't really contain any deep shit, but it has a good story and decent characters. I would recommend it for someone looking to pass some time.
