Is Urth of the New Sun worth 16 bucks? I know it serves more to answer questions left by the original story, but the reviews in amazon make me doubt a bit, even if i shouldn't trust them much.

>no Anita Blake the Vampire Slayer
First one is a classic.
Later ones not so much
You can only read one book for the rest of your life which one do you choose
Inb4 bible, the bible is a multitude of books.

Death at La Fenice by Donna Leon
Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry
Either Ulysses or a collection of poetry so I can know them by heart and use that knowledge to attain pu$$y.
Reading 1984 by G. Orwell. What are you reading today?
Your mamas titties while she bouncing on my dick

Don't rudepost in my thread please.

I'm reading Burmese Days by Orwell. I also recently read Down and Out in Paris and London and Homage to Catalonia. AMA
Pleb or patrician?
Failed patrician, I haven't liked his stuff since Kafka on the Shore
Read two of his books, both were shit.
>>7957804
Stopped Norwegian Wood and Kafka on the Shore both halfway through. I rarely put down books and flat out don't finish them.
I'm gonna say pleb. Of the Japanese authors I've read, he is easily at the bottom of the list (the others being Akutagawa, Dazai, Soseki, and Ishiguro- if you count him).
What will I need to read to build foundation to understand and/or appreciate Stirner?
Stirner

That's it?

Stirner
Critique thread.
The other one's clearly dead.

Dialogue is unrealistic. Baby line is bad. The simulated accent is jarring. Vapid main character interior dialogue that takes too many words to show too little of character. Still better than most here, keep trying, youll get it soon it looks like.

WTF?
Which books will help me recover from the /r9k/ mindset?
None. Even a few weeks of using that board will imprint it's horrible worldview into your mind.
You're doomed to be that same bitter virgin forever.
Literally all of them. Combine reading with travel and someday soon you may even be a passable human.
Mindfulness in Plain English - Bhante Gunaratanna
has anyone here given up on writing?
what happened?

I suck at grammar.
>>7945456
>Grammar
Really? THAT is your concern? That's really fixable anon.
The things that aren't fixable are talent and creativity. I imagine most people give up because they don't put in the effort to churn out something good or just aren't creative enough to write something worth reading.
Grammar doesn't sound something that you should give up over imo.

I've given up on life m8, pulling the plug tonight
ITT: We blurb an entire book in 10 words or less.
I'll start.
Lolita - Pedophile strikes gold and goes on cross country adventure.
Don Quixote - Man thinks he's a knight and fucks up sheep/windmills.
On the Road -- Young writer drops everything and goes traveling with artsy friends.
How do I deal with the fact that the Munchhausen trilemma exists and all philosophy is bullshit and all humanities / art / politics is narcissistic posturing?
Everything is such BS on a big pile of BS on a mountain of BS, it's all so hard to take. Everything boils down to BS or trivialitirs
>>7952340
Certain things are self evident. I think there I am. I intuitively know suffering is bad because the evidence is the phenomenological experience of it. And from such truths you build upon it.
Yes, everything is just bullshit. Bullshit on bullshit on bullshit.
And now what? This line of thinking doesn't lead anywhere, it's a dead end. And if your thoughts can't go anywhere further, they'll take a few steps back and go into a new direction. (That's what happened to me, at least, when I felt like you.)
Stop beating around the bush and accept Christ.
What's her name, /lit/?

How are Dost fans annoying? Do they actively talk about him or something? I mean I really like Dost, but I hardly talk about it.
Rupi Kaur

150 years of endless praise for him and his ideas, as if the man was the groundbreaking philosopher rather than a well spoken journalist.
Is anyone here trying to write a novel while working a full-time office job?
For the first few months it was ok but now my energy and focus are completely drained. I work from 8:30am to 5:30pm with a 30 minute commute each way. The work is glorified data entry and most of my day is spent not working. Staring at a screen for 8-9 hours and killing so much time is really getting to me. It seems time-killing is an essential aspect of office life but I fear I'm wasting the most productive years of my life being a submissive cuck for the sake of security.
Please no college-aged kids or highschoolers.
>Please no college-aged kids or highschoolers.
Why?
Work + College is a tough schedule, so can be highschool, but it's almost summer and lots of highschoolers and College kids are working full time jobs. Just because you're balding you're experiencing more legitimate misery?
I've written plays while working a couple of part time jobs (48 hours total). Fortunately on one of those jobs (night watchman) I could write for about half my shift.
I'm thinking of converting one of my plays to a novel, since no theater wants to hire a cast of 15 for an unknown writing about foul mouthed drunks and drug addicts.
>>7955893
If your wasting that much time at work, just work on your novel at work?
Recently turned 18. Looking at my life in retrospect and realized that I'm on the path to degeneracy.
>Don't work
>Do too many drugs
>Spend most of my free time on the internet
>Lack motivation to study
>Jerk off too much
What are some books that will help me legitimately improve my life?
Forgot to mention. Plan to spend most of my summer isolated to introspect and read.
>>7955637
Go hiking for a few days and meditate in nature. Self-help is a meme. There is only your will, your aspirations, your compass, your understanding.
Also, get the fuck off of 4chan and go talk to someone. Now.
>>7955644
20 year old here. Whatever you do, don't spend your summer isolated. Join a book group, at least find someone to share a joint with ffs.
Fuck this is hard to read. The writing style is weird. Does it get worse?
>>7954888
Yes. His style is fucked.
