How about /lit/ finally shows some love and respect for Ms. Rowling, hmmm?

Mate, if you have to shitpost at least do it in an interesting way.
with all due respect, she lost her place when she succumbed to the obsolescent replication (cancer) of capitalism. the "cursed child" indeed...

Why even live
Recently picked up Cumming's collection, some of his poems are very understandable and quite beautiful, but sometimes I'm left scratching my head. Thoughts? And if any, favorite poem by him?
a lot of his stuff was hit or miss for me, but overall I like him. this is one of my all time favorite poems:
somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond
any experience, your eyes have their silence:
in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,
or which i cannot touch because they are too near
your slightest look easily will unclose me
though i have closed myself as fingers,
you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens
(touching skilfully,mysteriously)her first rose
or if your wish be to close me,i and
my life will shut very beautifully, suddenly,
as when the heart of this flower imagines
the snow carefully everywhere descending;
nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals
the power of your intense fragility:whose texture
compels me with the colour of its countries,
rendering death and forever with each breathing
(i do not know what it is about you that closes
and opens;only something in me understands
the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses)
nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands

Good for what he did, bad for those who did what he did after he did it. His early poetry, the stuff he wrote while still at Harvard, is interesting. That's cummings: "interesting". Maybe not great, sometimes good. Interesting nonetheless

Hey guys, so I just finished pic related, really liked it, but now I'm kind of unsure of what I want to read next. I like dark stuff like that, violent, scary, whatever, that kind of thing.
But anyways I also like all different kinds of literature, some of my favorites are American Psycho, Catcher in the Rye Tale of Two Cities, Dracula, Confederacy of Dunces, 20,000 leagues under the sea.
I'm not really well read but I've gotten into some of the classics, and some of the more popular contemporary stuff. Anyways I'd love to hear if anyone had any recommendations for me for what might be a good follow up to something like Blood Meridian in terms of tone and theme, or based on some of the other stuff I mentioned. Thanks!

Hey lit what's the best site for ordering books dirt cheap.
>inb4 local bookstore
>inb4 library
Thriftbooks.com

Seconded.
www.amazon.com
What is the best site for illegally downloading books (I am a libertarian and do not believe in the concept of intellectual property) for my electronic fedora (kindle)?
oh are there not any sites to download books from? shame.
libgen you narc
Hello clone of me. I use books and libgen. Sometimes it's hard to find books in non PDF format, but no matter what I would recommend calibr for easy conversions. It even has an add to device option to it's one or two clicks to auto convert and add a book from comp to Kindle.
So I hate actually reading books. But I want to know the stories of Barsoom, Tarzan, and the 2 Alice in wonder land books.
What is the best place to get a high quality audiobook for free or other 100% unabridged adaptation that I don't have to read?

Piratebay or audible.

Librivox, you bourgeoise swine.

>bourgeoise swine
If I was bourgeoise, why would I be stealing every xmen comic since 1975 to read on my tablet?
how do I design a sick epic fantasy universe around dragontails?
>>8192760
Dragontails are an aphrodisiac, thus dragon populations have been on a steep decline due to poaching.

I suppose it's a silly question but I just wanted to hear your guys thoughts on it.

From a /lit/ and /biz/ perspective?
You want something that will be related to your book of course! Something either deep or literal maybe.
You ALSO want something that will help it stick out and sell. Since Publishers won't pick up authors that don't sell.
That's pretty much it.
Here's an irrelevant /lit/ cap.
It is important, but definitely not as important as album covers. Basically every modern music release has a square image tied to it, an album cover that tries to depict its content in the most favorable way in order to appeal to consumers.
It's interesting that this attachment to the cover image is so much less important in literature, proven by the fact many books have multiple covers depending on the edition, publisher, translation etc.
Maybe it's harder to convey words into an image? Or maybe the literary scene is not as susceptible to marketing strategies? Or maybe it's because book stores and libraries present their books with their spine, while record stores invite people to flick trough everything?
They are important enough to exist, the title more so.
How many books at a time do you read? Do you stick to one or multiple? How fast do you read? Everyday or somedays? How long does it take you to finish the book(s)?
jesuschristgetalifewhofuckingcares
I read twenty pages of a novel a day, and an issue of a comic. I find if I read too much in one day I get burned out and then stop, since I stick to this schedule consistently I inevitably read more.

What does lit have to say about one of the greatest English authors of our time?
Haven't read him, OP. What should I read by him?
>>8192128
Depends, Sinclair's subjects may seem bland but its the remarkable language and writing that you are there for.
For poetry/travel-log i'd go with the John Clare book and for London fans i'd go with That Rose-Red Empire or Ghost Milk

I never knew why /lit/ thought Tao Lin posted here until I read this book and saw that fucking 4chan reference in here.
Either way good, funny book. And no I'm not Tao Lin. It doesn't make much sense but it isn't pretentious in any overt sense. I thought it was gonna be pretentious drivel but it was actually a good read.
What was the reference I haven't read the book.
>>8191704
Don't remember exactly. I'm at work and don't have the book on me.

I dropped my Latin classes after like 4 months because I was a 12 year old pleb. Sorry m8.
Lit help, I just don't give a fuck about reading any of the stuff I'm reading. I picked up junky by william s burroughs and I decided after a few pages I just don't care, even though the reading style was pretty good. I decided that I didn't want to read nausea after 20 pages. I decided I didn't want to read a pictufre of dorian grey after 56 pages. I decided I didn't want to read 1984 after 1/4th through the book. I decided that I didn't care to finish story of the eye after getting half way through.
Fucking hell lit! does this still count as reading even? I mean, I can't find a book that I want to finish. I keep wanting to find a book that I pick up and actually feels compelling to me, like makes me feel like I want to keep turning the page because it's fascinating to read. That hasn't really happened to me yet. I just picked up mind and nature - a necessary unity,
Fuuuuuuuuck lit, what the fuck do I read? The only books I read this year I actually finished were the metamorphosis (which was depressing ad fuck), in the miso soup, the wasp factory, and the stranger (which I liked for what it was doing, but didn't find very exciting to read).. ahhhhhhhh! Idk what to do. Maybe I should read no long human next or something?
you might just not like reading
