How is it /lit/?
It is just a timewasting doorstop?
Entertaining, but ultimately its gimmicks don't add up to much.
Post modernist garbage. I had to stop when the author goes off on a 3 page tangent about how a character impressed some girls at a bar.

I wish she was still young. goddamn you time!
What's the best bible translation? I got some NVR edition, good for joints, not much else.
KJV or nothing
>>8226599
retard spotted.
KJV is fine but ESV and NLT are both great (on opposite ends of the hand-holding spectrum)
>>8226585
Why read translations when you can read the original one as it was written by the Lord Jesus Christ himself? KJV is the answer.
Why should I read stories about some old fu*ks drinking wine and talking about nonexistent gods before reading anything else? Western thinking is a mess and /lit/ memes are the worst.
they were smarter than you'll ever be you dummy
Begin with the Bible
all the shit about the gods is a metaphor for humanity, dumbass. and the wine-drinking is just a frame story for the discussions
I am going to get banned from /lit/ now, simply because of the last 2 words in my post
'Elliot Rodger'
kek, do we get banned for typing Marcel Proust too?

I am bored and am depending on this board to create a few emotional short stories for me to read to some friends for kicks.
doesn't have to be real obviously but something that will make you feel emotional or perhaps laugh would be ideal

Who are the best authors at clean prose?
Someone who uses no adverbs, adjectives, dialogue tags; other than said, yelled, whispered.
Someone who pays attention to the rhythm of stresses.
Someone who has clear pane prose rather than stained glass prose.
Someone where they pull off description, while mixing setting, character, and plot into a single sentence.
Someone who allows the words to drive the story, rather than take one out of the story.

Anybody read Columbine by David Cullen? Thoughts on the book? The biggest discovery I made reading the book was Columbine intended to be a bombing and not a shooting. Estimates of more than 500 dead if the bombs did go off. The book draws comparisons to In Cold Blood by Capote.
>>8226311
Didn't they try to go for McVeigh's high score deliberately?
Yes, they did. In memory of the Timothy McVeigh bombing, they decided to do the bombing on April 19th. Due to issues with ammo, they decided to wait one more day until they carried out the attack.
Book cover for those interested.
How many words can you skip and still claim to have read a particular book?

Personally I like to read the surfaces of triscuits until I have an interpretation for every line and crossing desu family
What's the most problematic book you've ever read? I'd have to say pic related. Islamophobic, fear-mongering piece of garbage written by and for white males
Why do Anti Islam guys always assume that everyone who disagrees with them is an SJW?
They're basically SJWs themselves.
>>8226241
lol you think that was problematic, you only managed to understand the most superficial meaning of the book.
Try this.

Nothing lol, literally the first source of all this shit is the Iliad.
If you don't have the endurance to make it through a book this short and simple you will not be able to read the Iliad.
so is 42 just a le so random bullshit or does it have a meaning
>>8226148
Didn't he tell one guy what it was before he died? Unless that guy tells everyone then it may as well be le random bullshit because there's no reasonable answered discenred from his books (and trust me douglas adams fans are some of the most obsessive autists there are, you can bet that if the meaning was hidden in the pages it would be out now).
That is of course assuming that the answer - if it exists - isn't just exactly that i.e. "lol, I just made it up, that's the answer LMAO"
