historical materialism very quickly clears up confusions like this.
Why has /lit/ become a wasteland of immature, insecure, pathetic, insufferable, cunts? /lit/ used to be a serious board with honest discussion of literature. Now we have "irony" threads which contribute nothing to actual discussion of literature. These memes have killed /lit/. This board might as well be a subreddit. The only things separating /lit/ and 4chan is upvoting. People need to seriously consider what they post, this board should be for the intellectual. I know that sounds pretentious, but it's true. All of us here know the beauty of reading and writing. In some way or another that is what brings us together into this asshole. But, some people on /lit/ are insecure and cannot handle acting mature. They instead rely on memes to make a mockery of wanting to strive for an intellectual platform, one in which actual intelligence, talent, and humility would be necessary.
Lit is dead because of these memes.
Memes are only good in small quantities. This board might as well be facebook.

lmao this guy's retarded
Good evening guys, I don't generally post here, Mainly browse. I was hoping you wouldn't mind taking some time out to sus the first page of my novella 'Tenebris'. Ive been asked to finish my novella by august 28th by my publisher. My book itself is sort of a scifi approach on capitalism etc... The following is unedited and thrown together but Id like some comments on general structure.
The novella is about a girl stuck in pergatory which happens to be on a moon orbiting the planet 'Eris' Which is considered heaven, and her mission it to reach eris before Dysomnias core (the moon they live on) is made unstable and the planet destoryed due to 'GOD' whos name is heyzues, Mined the planet of its core which is a rare metal necassery for hypertravel etc..
Let me know!
It wont let me tinylink so ill post in comment
'GOD' Or 'Heyzues' hes named in the book is infact a corporate dictator who hides under the guise of his genetic abilitys (which others believe make him a god)
The book focuses on Natt and the Relationship and wars between Capitalist Dysnomia and socialist/dictatorship driven Eris
STILL HAVE A MONTH TO FINISH, THROW IN ANY TWISTS, PLOT IDEAS, ETC

Could someone give me a summary of the Iliad but in like...ebonics/nigga speak?
>>8229827
Gotta go dine, bumping for huge potential.
You need a legitimate black person in order for the ebonics to sound good. I have never met one of my fellow whites with the understanding of the myriad subtleties and constant refinements enabling them to truly speak with the great ebonistic tongue.

how's that for a synopsis, anon?
Valium is no good because you forget what happened in the book when you wake up the next day
Opiates are ok, similar problem to valium
Cannabis is great for non-fiction, love learning about things while stoned

Don't know but I'm getting Masciandaro's Sermones Contra Solicitudinem next week, can't wait
The obvious answer would be to start with the Greeks but I suppose Kant would also be a decent entry point.
Every book is about relationships and since you either want to be a writer or better reader or both then you need to experience modern relationships and experiences.
How many times in the last month have you:
>had a one night stand after a party or nightclubbing
>had sex after meeting a girl from tinder
>had sex on the first date
>been texted for sex late at night
>updated your Instagram and Facebook for personal propaganda purposes
And how many times in the last year
>have you had sex at a music festival
>been travelling across at least three countries in one holiday
I sure a non negligible amount of times. Otherwise you're a neckbeard

Yes.
What does /lit/ think of Tennyson's poetry?
I've read a few, they are quite striking and dramatic, but I don't know how to criticise or say why he is great, good or bad?
>>8229527
Lots of filler but very good at his best.
Ulysses is wonderful

Mason & Dixon for non USA people? I love Pynchon, I've read V, TCoL49, GR, IV, BE, and I'm currently re-reading GR. I realize M&D is up there with his best work, but I've been keeping away from it because of the USA-centric themes. I'm not from the US, and I see that the entire book is about themes, stories and lives that revolve around the USA history. I suspect the book would resonate far more deeply in Americans, and not so much in people from other countries.
So, /lit/, my question would be: will I still enjoy reading M&D even if I'm not from the US?
>>8229505
inb4, read it and find out. Come one now, I'm trying to have a conversation here. See if someone could share his/her experience, etc
>>8229505
I don't think you realize the state of the US education system. You likely know as much as or more than the typical person your age in the United States. Just jump in.
>>8229505
yes you fucking idiot. I'm Canadian. instead of thinking about it as the USA, just think about it as a new blossoming country. any country for that matter.
