How do you get into Germanic mythology?
Edda? Which one? What follows?
Any chart or help appreciated.
>>9886288
Nibelungenlied and Thidrekssaga.
Edda also, just mind the Christian stuff.
>>9886288
Both Eddas, but the Poetic Edda is older.
The Icelander's sagas (Njals, Laxdæla, Grettis), the Kings' sagas (Sverris, the St. Olaf sagas), the short tales of Icelanders, the knights' sagas (Brother Robert's translation of Tristan),
>>9887286
It is pretty funny that the Nibelungenlied mythologizes characters who were themselves Christians in real life.
I just marathoned the first 50 pages of this and I have to ask why you guys didn't tell me that this is literally just a poor man's In Search of Lost Times.
Her prose is more aesthetic than Proust's.
>>9886274
That's a good observation. Many here tend to think that Joyce overconcerned her but this is untrue. With Proust she was absolutely spellbound, however, and depressed that after him any fiction she produced would be deemed superfluous. That said, Dalloway is still a great book.

is beauty objective?
God is perfect and beauty is obviously one of the attributes He must be complete in so yes there is an objective basis for beauty.
All the "objective" systems of beauty that I've come across are either uselessly nebulous or uselessly banal. The one you linked is the former.

a)If you are at uni track down your professors dissertation and compare with their current work.
b)If not I suggest:
The Book of Tropes: Definitions and Examples - Adams.
Admittedly I struggled to come up with the more obvious literary suggestions (5, 10(a), (b)), because it's really down to practice. If you don't make notes as you read any novel then it will be harder to get anywhere. Just read and think about what you are reading. The other suggestions will encourage good thought processes which are essential.

Loving this.
>tfw can't picture how named characters look like in fiction novels
>tfw can't remember characters and their names
>tfw never completed reading a whole non-fiction book in my entire life
Where or how do I start?
i remember having mental images of characters and imagining them while reading when I was a kid but I certainly don't do it now so I don't think you need to worry about the first one.
Write little notes on a pad while reading. Your reading comprehension will skyrocket.

The Recognitions. Mordant, depressive, treatise on the futility of ambitious creation and despairing over any place existing for it in society.

>politics and ideology have replaced religions in the west, and we are starting to see the rise of what is essentially zealotry for political causes
Any books that deal with this idea?
You don't consider revolts and revolutions to be political zealotry?
What of the Nobility of the Light?
What of Woman's Mobility before your neckbeard, fleeing in Giggling Fright?
The better you look
The more you'll see

Only thing Murakami is good at is writing the same thing over and over again.
