What are some pro-feminist literature that I can read to help overcome my "women are all vicious cunts" mindset?
here
I don't think reading up on feminism will help to alleviate that mindset.

I'd recommend reading a book by a woman, but they're all shit.
Do you guys ever feel guilty about not applying any of the knowledge and insight you've gained from literature and philosophy into something tangible? Like there's all this potential within you that you're not developing and realizing.
If you can't you did it wrong.
Do you have an exemple ?
I mean there are a lot of facts and concepts that you can't use but I wouldn't call it insight or related to philosophy.
>he reads for "knowledge"
>he doesn't realize that crystallization is death
>in the picture he thinks he's Elmer but actually he's Bugs

Guilt is for Catholics and Jews.
where did he go wrong
>>8312067
He didn't.
Fell REALLY hard for the greeks meme

He wrote in aphorisms which are quite easily quoted and misunderstood by plebs.
He was also German, and therefore taboo in the 21st century.
When pointing out a source in a page of a book (in the form of a footer) do I write the place where it was edited and the date before or after I point out the page?
e.g.
Either, "The Best of 4chan", (New York, NY: Meme Press, 2015) pp. 21-23
OR
"The Best of 4chan", page 21-23 (New York, NY: Meme Press, 2015)

If using Chicago follow http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide.html
If Chicago, you only do the full citation the first time, and then a different format in the bibliography

I'm writing for the first time. I have no ideia what APA or Chicago is.

Virtual Reality has been foregrounded by television and film so much that I don't think I've ever come accross a story that focuses on Augmented Reality for its plot - any shorts or novels you can rec?
I wrote a story about how you live in a fag-minted reality
>Everywhere he looked, he saw dicks. Innumerable lines of force converged to reveal a never-ending cavalcade of always more dicks. He had to suck all those dicks.
Sci-fi has had augmented reality since at least the 90s.
What do you mean "for its plot" - you mean more than just characters interacting in spaces that are a mix of reality and computer worlds overlaid and interweaving?
You want a story about an AR software engineer or something?
>>8312065
The only funny part of this is that it's a very /lit/ way to say "OP is a faggot".
>>8312073
>Sci-fi has had augmented reality since at least the 90s.
Yeah, that doesn't surprise me, but I'm just not aware of any, that's why I'm asking.
>more than just characters interacting in spaces that are a mix of reality and computer worlds overlaid and interweaving
That'd be good, but if the setting is significant or prominent enough, then whatever.
What's so funny about this book? The style, characters, plot etc.? Pls no spoilers because I'm considering reading it.
Also, what are some other books that /lit/ finds funny?
>>8312003
Just read the book, find out for yourself, and chuckle you dunce. It's funny, but it's more hysterical if you are a local.
How does /lit/ feel about audiobooks?
Cancer
Depends HEAVILY on the voice of the narrator (and his accent).
So many bad narrators.
Having said that, audiobooks and narrators are now my companion where I used to listen to music (e.g. on the way to work, at work sometimes, coming home from work, having sex with my bitch wife etc.)
>Audible
Absolutely disgusting. Only used them once because of their "FREE TRIAL" thing. Audible DRM is a pain in the ass. Hate their apps too. Piracy all the way.
>>8311999
Great for lighter non-fiction. Good for YA. Shit for everything else.
Should I not read bad books?
>>8311951
If you read bad books, it reduce the time and energy you have to read good books.
>>8311967
but you still learn stuff. How are you supposed to know the difference between good and bad books when almost everyone has a different opinion. Reddit loves The Martian, but everyone here says it sucks.
Don't waste your time, most are bad.
What to do when you lose the urge to read and can't seem to get interested in a book?
>>8311941
Get a different book that you are interested in. No shame in admitting you don't like something.

we all agree NYRB are the GOAT publishers right?
New Directions would like to have a word with you.

Their only distinguishing characteristic is their marketing strategy of publishing meme edgelord books to pursue the fedora audience.
If that's what it takes to be GOAT publisher than we're living in impoverished times.

you're just mad that you have never writhed around on the ground screeching that you were a serpent of becoming in front of a packed lecture hall.
This is not a troll thread, I'm genuinely curious. Heterosexual men of /lit/, would you read a novel featuring a homosexual relationship and sex scenes?
I don't mean an entire novel focused on the subject matter. I mean an ordinary novel in your favourite genre that just happens to have one gay relationship among several straight ones. Would that put you off completely or would you continue reading if you liked the novel? Pic more or less unrelated.
>>8311811
I would but I'm only about 55% hetero and the other 45% is pretty fucking gay
>>8311811
It doesn't bother me. Sometimes it can be more meaningful to the novel than a relationship between a man and a woman.Picture related
>Heterosexual men of /lit/, would you read a novel featuring a homosexual relationship and sex scenes?
Sure. I wouldn't read a gay erotica though or a "gay novel".

I am the universe become self aware. So are you. I am composed of compressed star-stuff, and so are you.
"Every man and every woman is a star" ~Aleister Crowley
"The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in our teeth, the iron in our blood, the carbon in our apple pies were made in the interiors of collapsing stars. We are made of starstuff." ~Carl Sagan
If you don't think that's the tightest shit get out my face.

It is tight, but I cannot see stars from up close. I cannot differentiate between a carbon atom and a calcium atom.
What I see is people, what I read are words.
