I understand that I'll feel love is the only way until I've found it and been torn to shreds, but for now I'll juice it's worth because it makes me happy. Recommend literature with sunlit bedrooms, berry wine, lies and all that shit. Please refrain from constant fucking and memes.
Bump because Google gives me shit

for you
I've been having problems with writer's block for a few months now. I was able to piss out a few words and form a shitty poem a week or so ago, but that's not enough. I'd like to get into short stories, screenplay, and eventually get into novel writing. What're some effective ways to get over this shit?
Hard to help you. I have too many ideas to begin with. Try Adderall or marijuana. Adderall makes you write a lot, not good, but a lot. And marijuana wraps your intuition around your head, so you're surrounded by random sporadic self induced influences.

Don't listen to this guy, OP.
Drugs will not save you. It's a meme. I've tried it all. None of them helped. And I did try in excess.
Anyway,
write even if you don't feel like it, as often as is bearable to you. Even if it's silly garbage. You'll get into a routine and naturally things will spark, domino effect, etc. Good luck. Just need to gather some discipline and routine.
do some reading, write anyway
Do any of you find yourself overusing certain syllables or letters in your writing, not due to lexiconal limitations but more so an unconscious word bias? If so, what do you do to overcome it?
I tend to use certain words too often because I like them too much. I just open a thesaurus and pick whatever synonym 1) is closer, 2) is most common, and 3) fits better.
In this thread: we try to induce otherness in the hearts of lonely 12 year olds and horny sexual deviants. Beauty can be found in the shittiest of places.
“Did they know that even for that boy there, for that mean sinful unthinking boy standing there with his dirty hands clenching and unclenching at his sides, Jesus would die ten million deaths before He would let him lose his soul? He would chase him over the waters of sin! Did they doubt Jesus could walk on the waters of sin?”

I like how the guy in that pic thought he was so funny that he screencapped it to share with all his /b/ros.
So, I used to read poetry to some of my exes and it worked like a charm but in retrospect I've gotta say now that I'm less pleb that the idea of reading poetry to your loved one seems ttoo pretentious and pseud for it to be honest. I think in that time I was more concerned about getting that sweet pussy by narrating it with my cool as hell voice than to expand my feelings and understandment of X poetry.
15 is too young to start posting. Please just wait it out.

why do so many works of western young adult literature portray the MC's high school years as the worst time in their life, there isn't anything inherently bad about them. if anything they are the best years of your life when you could probably have the most fun with the least consequences.
>>8333516
because most writers are autistic turbo nerds
They're only "the most fun years" to people with absolutely shitty and stagnant adult lives.
Personally, I had some fun in highschool, but I'm glad I dropped out midway. I gained more in those two years than I ever would have had I stayed.
teenagers are winy brats who want their victim complexes validated. Even if your teenage years are bad, they will eventually end and you'll move on with your life. Adult life doesn't end until you die.
A longing grips me to be dead and see
the shores of Acheron, dew-sprinkled, covered with lotuses.

A kind of yearning has hold of me - to die
and to look upon the dewy lotus banks
of Acheron.

Can someone break it down

Acheron is a river in Hades. (Mythology)
Recently I've devoted most of my time spent on literature to theory and fiction. However I've been meaning to dip my toe back into nonfiction and am at a loss considering the genre seems to be swamped with pages and pages that smell of self help. I read stuff like "the wave" and "the devils teeth" by Susan Casey which I liked enormously in high school. Something along those lines (detailed accounts of fringe groups engaging in esoteric/ dangerous/ etc. work) is what I'm looking for. Thanks for the help.
Suggestions of high concept science fiction would also be appreciated. Something analogous to carl sagan's contact.

Is it even worth it be become an intellectual any more? It seems like instant gratification culture prizes wit and rhetoric over a depth of knowledge.TL;DR How do I prevent myself from becoming a dilettante? It's my biggest fear

It is
What's the general opinion of these books? I just started rereading the series for the first time. I had the first five read by the sixth grade, and shortly after that Half Blood Prince came out, but I haven't gone back to them since the series concluded, nor am I that familiar with the movies beyond the first three. I'm halfway through Philosopher's Stone right now and damn it if it isn't comfy as fuck

Good for tweens and teens. Crap writing.
What are you, a broad? Get the fuck out of here.

The writing sucks but I don't care. I found it comfy too when I read them all for the first time about 6 years ago.
Read them all back to back really quickly it was a good experience.
People are still buying copies of all three Tundra books since the initial release in September 2014.
