What does it take to be a writer? Any interesting interviews or quotes on the topic?
Here's a snippet from Gaddis on wanting to write v. wanting to be a writer:

The tramp of there feet on the rooftop I've was not difficult to hear, either they didn't understand how well sound traveled in this ramshackle or had gotten cocky from too frequent a successful assassination. regardless I was on my feet, knife in hand which I had grabbed from underneath my pillow.
I drooped my body into a crunch and lept catching my fingers on the rafters neatly and with a feral focus pulling my self up, then wrapping my legs around the beam and my mind went quite, and mouth dry, ready.
Is print journalism a dying industry? Have we seen the last of truly "famous" writers/journalists? Seriously, nobody reads anymore. Blogging is gay as shit. What happened? Also is gonzo journalism still even a thing? Because I can only find objective pieces in magazines, which I know is typical, but why don't people see the power of a first person narrative? I know this is a ahit ton of stuff but I'm drunk and I want answers damn it!

What is /Lit/s opinion on Ellison
ha..
Loved him 5 or so years ago, now he comes off a bit clumsy to me with albeit a good idea here or there. More interesting as a personality.
I did this thread a while back.
Ellison is a shit writer. It's Elliot Rodger if he read books instead of playing Wow. He lived in the time when you could still get pussy even if you were a hopeless loser and just like the Rodger, he shows that he could have been something great.
What is The VVich of literature?

The Private Memoires and Confessions of a Justified Sinner gave me a similar feel
So "After the Race" is basically just "A Clean, Well-Lighted Place" but done even better, right?
I don't know that other story and all I can say is that After the Race was my least favourite from Dubliners.
