What do you prefer /lit/ and why?

>Novels or short stories?

>Sci-fi or fantasy?

>The writing topic or the way to write?

(Many times I heard people talking about interesting topics, but they turn them into a boring and childish conversation. Other times I can see people talking about frivolities or average stuff, but they way to describe makes those frivolities sound like art)

>When the author tells or when he just explains?

(Obviously is not the same to tell a story than describe how it happens)

Novels (personal range for me is around 200 pages)

Fantasy (though I enjoy it with sci-fi elements)

The writing topic. I'm pretty tolerant when it comes to prose so it has to be written pretty badly to put me off the premise

Usually when the author tells, I guess.

Hello dear friends and fans of 4chan. Recently I came across an interesting article about 4chan. It belonged to the Internet magazine that is no longer working because of complaints from visitors. I found this article on one forum on the books. This article tells about the users of 4chan and the sections of this site. It said that the website has malicious nature of of bad advice. But it's all the provocation the tabloids.I was outraged by what they consider 4chan a bunch of pseudo philosophers. Probably why the magazine was closed. What do you think about this?

This is a meme, deleting system 32 really does speed up your computer and unlock a secret really cool desktop theme mostly because it breaks windows and you have to install gentoo

Can someone recommend books where the protagonist of an earlier installation becomes the antagonist of later ones?

I've been running ideas back and forth with a friend about such sorts of characters.

Inb4 Star Wars.

Hey /lit/, I recently finished Portrait of the Artist as a Young man, and I loved it. It was the first work of modernist lit that I've read and I'm looking for more. What are some books similar to Portrait in terms of style and difficulty? I'm not sure I'm ready for something as daunting as Ulysses right now, which is why I want to enjoy more modernist lit as I simultaneously prepare to work further through Joyce.

I graduated last year with a degree I really hated. I've spent the past 14.5 months mostly wasting massive amounts of time on the internet, living with my parents, working menial part time jobs (less than 20 hours a week), and procrastinating instead of learning programming like I told myself I would. I don't even read books anymore. Also I have an existential crisis that I realise will never go away.

Has anyone been in a situation like this, constantly telling yourself that you'll work hard tomorrow? I feel like I have potential. I feel guilty when not working and I fear working only a medium amount and being guilty about not working more. When I get a full time job I know I will have no time to do anything substantial.

Just fucking do it, Jesus Christ. Take a running leap and jump into whatever it is you want to do. Take the step from which there is no going back. You'll be glad you did.
>>
>>8376363
What did you get your degree in? Do you regret it? And it sounds like you dont even know what you want to do so of course you wont have drive to start anything. Figure that out first. And for your existential crisis: if you don't plan on being a novelist or philosopher just stop thinking about it. It'll go away
>>
>>8376363
If you have a degree at all you could move to an east asian country (I reccomend thailand, vietnam, or cambodia) and teach English. some of these jobs provide housing.

Even if youre not great with kids or anything, it might be good for you to try something so wildly different in a new setting. Worst comes to worst you can just come back.

It requires a persistent readerly effort to de-ontologize everything you're reading, but with that caveat, Jung could fall into this category. Try reading Symbols of Transformation as a tropology instead of a psychology.
>>
Since when and why has the word trope come to mean narrative convention, rather than a figurative usage of language?
