I haven't been this excited about a novel in a while.
Just finish it. Gush when you're done.
I read this book like 6 months ago and I'm still excited about it.

Give me "offbeat" novels, something that comes out of left field and leaves you with a raised eyebrow i.e. something that really doesn't fit into any plot conventions, strange plots that don't necessarily go anywhere, strange themes etc...

how could anybody believe that quality isn't objective? help me understand, lit.
>>8394473
They are stupid.
Quality is objective, however no one may ever know the full range of best to worst and everything in between. Should someone defend something that is bad, they believe it is good because they haven't seen something good, and will have difficulty adjusting to the good thing if they tried because they are so used to their definition of good (which is bad). Similarly, in reverse, someone might call a good author shit because they were someone who only read good things, and do not know or care about actually bad authors.
>>8394473
Quality is objective. Judgement and experience of quality isn't.
What makes someone a good writer?
Prose?
Story?
Ideas?
Characters?
>>8394423
and meme value
>>8394423
Basically a mastery of at least one of those categories.
Borges, for example, is great because of his ideas and storytelling.
Joyce is great because of his prose more than anything else, even if he was proficient on the other categories.
Meme value too.
This is not the place to ask. Half of these goofballs cant even finish what they write.
Your best is just reading the good stuff and learning it intuitively, but /some/ writing manuals can point you in the right direction as well.
1. One must have ontological commitments to all entities that are indispensable to the best scientific theories, and to those entities only (commonly referred to as "all and only").
2. Mathematical entities are indispensable to the best scientific theories. Therefore,
3. One must have ontological commitments to mathematical entities.

Does literally anybody give a fuck? I seriously doubt it

Where did you come up with 1? Why do I have an ontological commitment to science, which by the way, is an epistemological study?
