You're going to have to get off the fence on capitalism.

If you decide to make the right choice the NazBol gang is waiting for you.
>>
>>10019933

Capitalism didn't cause that to happen, reliance on government welfare caused that to happen. if, for instance, you subsidize single mothers, you will get more single mothers.

I was born in the rolling hills of north georgia, united states. if i was offered a million dollars to have to move to an apartment in the middle of a big city I wouldn't take it. i've had some strange psychological obstacles. i was abused as a child in a few forms. i think it was a disposition from my stupidity. i wish i were smarter. I have an IQ of 100.. i was tested when i was diagnosed with being schizoaffective. although i've had a few struggles, i've also been very blessed with certain entertainment. my dad taught me to love the land and my mom disobeyed my dad and bought me my favorite video games. my brain has been rotted for the majority of my life without realizing it. my psychology allows me to have good mental defences, but I am a bad creator.

i'm 26 and i'm going to probably be NEET for the rest of my life. i've scoured the internet for the past few years to stave off nihilism and "depression". i found this page probably a month ago. at first it was like a hidden wonder of the world for me. i couldn't understand anything that y'all were talking about, but i have been visiting more frequently recently. i've come to realize that to understand literature, you have to have some sort of love for it. i've never enjoyed reading. i've always been more of a picture person. i grew up around farm equipment and animals and fishing, so my mind has developed to a point to where i don't understand a lot of words, and to simply put- sentence structure. i don't even know what the word "prose" means. i see it and hear it. before i was diagnosed with my disorder i was writing and drawing pictures but none of it made sense. it was all random mostly. it came from my mind and i created it, but it just didn't make sense. the more i visit this place the more i am realizing that I may never be able to understand how to properly structure a story properly or even be able to converse deeply and about the complexity that some authors present.

today was a big hit. i learned about david foster wallace. he really piqued my interest because his quotes are a little easier to understand than a lot of writing that i've been exposed to. what the problem is is that i started reading some more of his longer quotes and i couldn't really understand them. i decided to go to youtube and listen to some of his interviews to see if i could get some insight and try to develop some sort of sense about him so that i could read a book and be able to understand it. it's not working, and i'm getting frustrated. i'm not smart enough to understand the majority of the literature i'm interested in. fuck anime. fuck reddit. fuck history in general (it's mostly lies/manipulated to fit a narrative) and fuck religious texts. i want to get into something that can give me a greater sense of my own humanity, but i'm not able to get anything to click. am i starting out too strong? i want to develop my mind and be able to have an interesting conversation. my brain is rotten! any help?

Your brain is rotten and you're coming to the medium that set your rot to find advice. Turn off the computer. Stop worrying about being the best and just read and write.

Fantastic blog! Where can i sub?
>>
Start with something easier, maybe genre fiction like game of thrones, and maybe some Shakespeare before moving on to literature. It's all just a matter of practice. Unless you have some sort of brain damage, you will learn to read just fine. Understand that a lot of writing is intentionally written in a strange confusing style for effect. Infinite Jest is going to be hard to understand unless you have basic reading experience. Good luck OP.

It was once said by Kafka that "A book must be an axe for the frozen sea within us". In that spirit, dear /lit/, I ask you to impart upon me the single most agonising, crushingly depressing and infinitely dismal book you know of. Just, absolute worst case scenario, where all and everything has gone wrong, any possible scenario results in a zero sum and whatever world the book concerns itself with is meekly wasting away like a rotting corpse. Most genres will do, cyberpunk, sci-fi, realistic, abstract works etc., just spare me the laconic 'Dungeons & Dragons'-esque fantasy. Think of it as a challenge, I suppose. Ask away for any recommendations in this thread as well, I have a somewhat broad literary taste.

When is one satisfied with the books they have read? If one becomes well- read in one particular field, can they be content? What if one was not interested in say, philosophy, but developed an understanding of certain key figures, would they be content?

Use varying connectors other than "and" and describe stuff more, your lightly skimming over details and it comes of as rushed or you haven't proof read it.
>>
>>10019430
Same anon, I'd also recommend changing up your openings to, for example, five sentences in chapter three start with either "she said" or another variation, also use exclamation points for characters who are speaking, unless you did this quickly ?

Cultural Marxism was a phrase thrown around 4chan a lot after the Anders Breivik murders.

I remember reading this article at around that time which blames the Frankfurt School on the decline of the West.

http://www.wnd.com/2007/05/41737/

I've since read some of the works for Adorno and other members of the Frankfurt School and I can't see much of a conspiracy theory or the typical Jewish agenda. They seemed to be genuinely interested in restoring freedom, freedom which was taken away by capitalism through mass media.

Any thoughts of the source literature?

Would also be interesting to know how people make the connection between Jewish conspiracy theories and the culture industry critique.

>freedom
Their mistake lies in thinking of freedom as an absolute value, as if everyone could be "free" at the same time. But it is relative: the more free one person is, the less free those around him must be.

Both freedom and enslavement are therefore necessary and to the greatest degree that they can be attained — without hindering each other's growth — in order to build the strongest man with the widest range of thought and action, and the greatest freedom of movement possible, in both the physical and the mental dimensions of the world. And this man — who will obviously by that point no longer be a man — we'll call the Overman, or simply God.

>taken away by capitalism
What is "capital"? It is simply another word for money, which is a medium that facilitates exchange. Capitalism, then, is merely a state of things in which individuals are able, and allowed, to enter into exchange. That's all it is. Capitalism = Exchange. And since it is impossible for any culture and civilization at all to exist without exchange (indeed exchange is the number one prerequisite for civilization, with language itself understood as a form of exchange, the exchange of feelings), we might as well say that Capitalism = Civilization. To be against capitalism, then, means to be against civilization — which is par for the course for the kind of subhuman dreck which perpetually champions this nauseating, decadent notion. Just take a good look at them and you'll see.

I have a perfect condition, hardback copy of Goosebumps Welcome to Dead House with the entire story inside printed upside down. I have been trying to figure out if it is worth anything, being a misprint. Any help would be appreciated!
