The Envoy Accord is my work in progress. It's a story of loss, betrayal, redemption, and forgiveness set in a somewhat modern world just on the verge of a technological revolution.
Does someone wanna read it?

What do you mean by "somewhat modern world" ?
I mean there are sovereign, civilized states with functioning society.
Maybe I should have said "Well developed" world

Gene Wolfe, J.R.R. Tolkien and Frank Herbert a best.
anyone read cook's dread empire?
Got it by mistake downloading the scifi book of the same name but figured it might be worth a read anyway given how good black company is
Tolkien fans, how do you feel about Jackson's movies?
Who are you intellectually, /lit/?
Also, conspiracy literature thread.

Anyone got books like Confessions of a Economic Hitman, except actually good? The topic is interesting, but in this case the author I have a strong feeling exaggerated the majority of what he did to fill his book with a sense of outrage. Doesn't help he runs several non-profits founded by himself, which are vaguely suspicious.
In general just post economics related conspiracy literature.
>yfw I see only one copy of pic related in the bookstore as I walk to work
is it worth spending £10 on it so I can get it before someone else nabs it?
>bookstore
Just order it online, my dude.

No, it's a poorly written book that attempts to justify brown resentment, brown mediocrity and anti-white racism
get it from the library and treat yourself to a munchie box instead

I thought it might be cool to get a book, but I'd want to get a timeless classic book for such an occasion. What would you recommend, or want?
I kind of want something on the stock market or investing to make money, but unsure what the best book on that is. I'm also open to suggestions on anything. Something like the Bible in significance, but I already have one.

How to Lick Ass and Influence People
If there is a book you both enjoy or have a connection through a nice quality edition of that would work well. Other than that I would say do something like a photo album or a collection of mementos that show appreciation of a year together.
Loeb's Hesiod
Let's say I want to get into Ayn Rand.
The thing is that her two novels are really really long and I'm not sure I can be fucked to read them.
Should I pick up one of her later, non-fiction works? They're much shorter.
What would you recommend, /lit/? What should I start with? What's a good introduction to Ayn Rand?
google it queer

Sorry I know she has three novels, but I mean the two most famous ones.

>he didn't start with the lenins
It's time to admit that we haven't had a political theorist of his caliber since.
>tfw Zizek has a forward/afterword on the new Lenin collection
>tfw Zizek has a new Lenin book
>>9922598
Lenin truly was a genius. He correctly interpreted the totalitarian implications of Marxism and proved to all who had doubts about Marxism that it really was just slightly worse form of dictatorship and state capitalism.
How many Rolls Royces did Lenin own again?
"They trust me, dumb proles..."
>>9922598
>so then after we build this giant socialist dictatorship with the Cheka the state will wither aw-
Lenin was objectively wrong. It's pretty rare, actually, that anyone is as categorically wrong about anything as a lad was about the dialectical process of history.
I mean you have to go back to Marx to be AS wrong.
we need to talk about this. spoilers inbound
Ok so it turns out he was dead this whole time. O'brien said he intended the story to be a living hell for the protagonist. What kind of "hell" is that? Isn't hell supposed to be scary and hurtful? His conception of hell is being told about atomization and people slowly turning into bicycles and vice versa from cops in 2D stations that make chests within chests within chests and spears with undetectably faint endpoints?
What??
>>9922575
That's bicycle talk. You'll be wanting the vote next. I'm not having it.
>>9922580
lol
I forgot to mention fox's police station in the walls of a house. I suppose the anxiety that comes with an impending hanging that never happens is scary but not enough to be hellish. Is he in Hell? I'm assuming he is. This is payback for killing the guy. Btw what about that bit about that guy they kill who tell him about seeing the color of air & gowns that determine the timeline of your mortality? Am I just a pleb for wanting it to make sense? I like the ideas explored and I enjoy this kind of zany shit but the 'big reveal' was a bit of a let down. Anyone else feel the same way?
Is "unironically" the new "literally"?
>>9922520
It's the 4chan way of saying 'literally' without forfeiting the right to mock alleged normies for using it.
>>9922553
Good analysis.
Unironically? Yes.
