Who /write every day/ here? How long did it take before you were popping out stories like it was nuthin'? Been at it a few days and man, it's rough. I'm getting words down but they don't lead anywhere. They have no sense of direction.
>>8514910
You need to wait until you feel like writing and have something to write about. There's a reason most great literature takes years to write.
>>8514915
I have things to write about. I'm an opinionated prick. I just have difficulty thinking of ways to dramatise my ideas.
As for "waiting" for inspiration, or whatever, I did that a few times in my teens to varying degrees of success but (1) those moments of inspiration are becoming far less frequent as I get older and (2) essentially every writer I've seen speak on this topic says you should get into the habit of writing every day whether you're inspired or not.
>>8514910
When I first began it took like two weeks of me just writing down pages of describing how frustrated I was that I couldn't think of anything. Finally an image came to mind. I threw that idea out a week later. But basically your experience sounds normal although you're probably trying too hard. Keep it simple. Creating characters is better than inventing plots and is more fun. Of course read more and also try to think about yourself and what other people think about you, what they like and dislike and so on. Invent new histories for yourself and the people you know. Explore what you want to know about. It gets easier. But most importantly keep it simple, write sentence by sentence.
Is this a pleb book?
I thought the movie was kinda shit. Now I'm wondering about the book.
I don't wanna waste my time reading garbage, but the premise/themes are attractive enough for me to consider it.
the "book" is pure unadulterated shit, do not waste your time with it.
waste of time
It's for little kids.
Don't waste your time.
>tfw the only author's signature i have is Eric Walters
am i pleb? who's signatures do you have
None, you pleb.
None
None
It's not like it's going anywhere
As OP I'll begin
'Weave'
>Protagonist is your typical pseud douchebag
>Wealthy, good looking, he has a caring, understanding, kind girlfriend, essentially the perfect woman
>He's an aspiring author
>He's also a terrible writer
>Convinced that it's a lack of tragedy, not talent, that's holding him back
>Decides that it's okay he's good looking, since Camus was
>Tries to cause as much tragedy in his life as possible, starting with romance
>Goes to increasing lengths to try and get his girlfriend to break up with him
>Turns their relationship borderline-abusive
>Yells at her at a party because she says her favorite book is Harry Potter
>Nearly bankrupts himself intentionally (he inherited his wealth)
>Woman finally works up the courage to break up with him, acts heartbroken
>She comes back, this all resumes
>Eventually breaks up with him again
>Final scene is him standing in the rain outside his shitty apartment
>Begins work on his 'masterpiece'
unnamed narrator sits in his room and masturbates

10/10
Which is better?
>>8514522
I am intrigued by DFW. I respect him for having I think the best writers are those who have issues and substance abuse problems.
>Wallace struggled with drug and alcohol addiction, depression, suicide attempts, institutionalization, and at times inappropriate sexual behavior. He was reported to have slept with some of his female students while teaching at university and sometimes exhibited stalking-like obsessive behavior when enamored of a woman.[44]
>Born to atheist parents, Wallace attempted to join the Catholic Church twice but "flunk[ed] the period of inquiry," and later attended a Mennonite church.[46][47][48]
I wonder what it was that depressed DFW. Was he redpilled? He must have been.
Wardine be cry.
>>8514522
>Why do you think I took you to all those Police Academy movies? For fun? Well, I didn't hear anybody laughing!
Show me one quote from Infinite Jest that's this good.
Hey /lit/, was wondering if you could codify the format for 'green text' narration.
Also is it prose or verse I cant quite decide.

The technical term is shitpost.
>unreliable narrators
>unreliable readers
>unreliable writers
unreliable shitposters
>tfw I used to read 100 pages a day and now struggle to hit 20
What happened?
>100 pages
>implying that is commendable
450+ pages here, get on my level, fag.
>>8514583
He's not implying that it's commendable. No one cares about how many you read a day faggot.
Anyway OP, maybe it's because of things like distractions getting in the way. Or maybe it's because you've taken to reading more difficult material so you've been reading slower.
>>8514421
>frogposter
it's probably depression
Write a love letter
I love you

t. anon
THE END
how important is free speech to you, anon?
Free speech for it's own sake is standard moralism that is widely upheld but universally condemned in practice by everyone. I will gladly support using violence to silence my political opposites if they're dangerous enough and they will do the same to me. The fact that they would cry about "free speech" if they were on the receiving end of repression doesn't change that.
>>8514374
free speech is a patriarchal invention that belongs in the 20th century
I can't help but laugh when authors unintentionally confirm stereotypes.
For example, Alice Munro, Canadian, often mentions hockey.
Corncobbers always write about corn and related topics. Like tortillas and stuff. Ye.
>>8514342
falling for the corncob meme
>>8514339
Why is he goofing around?
Post adaptations of books you'd like to see
A decent Harry Potter tv series where it's a season per book would be nice.
>>8514322
An HBO version of The Dresden Files would be great. The scifi channel series was shit.
>>8514322
hey that's actually pretty good
dont think sonja is supposed to be erotic or seductive though
>he uses correct punctuation and capitalization when posting on 4chan
>>8513882
>he deliberately uses bad punctuation and capitalization so people won't think hes a fag
I do both depending on the thing I am responding to
>>8513923
>he assigns value to the status of being a fag
>main character is a self insert
>main character isn't a self insert
>main character inserts self
>main self is a character
>he's still straight
Why haven't you gone gay yet? It's about the most patrician thing you can do. Pic related.
>>8513446
uhhmmm because I'm redpilled?? yeesh -__-
>>8513446
But I am gay OP, refer to my diary desu
>>8513446
Witty man looks like he's thirsty for a hot load of sperm
Why does he have such a gayface?
