Why didn't Dumbledore just tell Harry that he asked Snape to kill him?
>>8521203
Because it was a metaphor for AIDS
Because he knew Voldemort could see into Harry's mind and it would foil the entire plan of having Malfoy be the rightful bearer of the elder wand.
>>8521213
This.
Did you even read the books? For fucks sake.
When you read a book, do you think Death and Gore is the best hook for a series to start out? Like in the first page somebody needs to get killed for you to actually get into the book?
>>8521201
Are you actually serious?
>>8521214
yes
>>8521228
What the fuck is wrong with you?
I don't want to participate anymore, I'm exhausted. Rather than kill myself I'll just leave, and I'd like your help. Might you please recommend books and/or authors that address the matter of leaving society (e.g. Throreau's Walden)?
Also, what is your defense for man's world?
>Yes I've been to /out/
Bump
>>8521116
>Also, what is your defense for man's world?
I don't have one. All I can say though is that the prospect of escape is an illusion. All you can really do is bury your head in the sand and be at society's mercy
>>8521116
>>8521136
Thank god you bumped, ya dingus
Listen here, I just got my happy ass out of bed were I had been reading on mobile (I know, kys right?) and saw your post and thought to myself, "now here's a lad who's been going through the exact same life experiences you have. If you don't stop to help now, even if only to feel the soothing balm of doling out autobiographical advice, then you're fucked." So this is what worked for me

That's right. They're two tumblr links (Really, kys, I know), but please just copy and paste them (I don't know how to format on this godforsaken site, I'm usually just here for the bantz). Once you're done with those, go through that guy's posts. Pretty good writer, if a bit strong on the kierkegaard-lite/I read Spinoza a bit too much in high school. I would paraphrase, but it would only be watering it down. All I know is that it hit at the right point, and now I find myself participating willingly in "Man's world."
I wish you nothing but the best in all things, anon. Peace
All I'm saying is that when a lot of spiritual people are asked a simple question, they will say 100 different things and the majority of people listening say
>"brilliant"
>"beautiful"
>"this man is a genius"...
But when Jesus is asked a question, he gives a short answer that means many things, that is understood by children and studied by geniuses for centuries, but most people go "wait, BUT there's no god"... because they're so focused on "knowledge seeking" and external things that they'd ignore someone who's possibly GOD over their own foolish beliefs on his lack of existence.
Sorry but the majority of "thought leaders" are inferior to him, he can only be a character made by several clever sheep herders or a genius that makes all others look like children.
>>8521083
wow really made me think
You are very deep
>>8521089
I'm really not, I was just trying to say it as clearly as possible. It's not about "philosophy" or "world views", it's just "people who value knowledge". They're no different than "sports fans". You don't need this.
The bible says (paraphrasing) "You hide these SIMPLE TRUTHS from the WISE AND WELL LEARNED and reveal them to SMALL CHILDREN" and "Don't rely on your understanding, put your faith in God" or else you rely on all forms of wrong and obscure thinking = philosophy and the "hobby" of "seeking knowledge".
Philosophy is disgusting, its only use is to convince the world of that.
Interested in getting into Trotsky, Lenin, and Stalin. I wanna know more about them and socialism and communism and the whole deal against fascists and communism. I don't even know enough about WW2.
I want a huge list of recommendations and where to begin. It's gonna be years of studying probably, but I'm willing to learn.
>>8521072
You can't discuss Marxism on here anymore
>>8521074
Rules are normal again, it doesn't even tell you not to talk about Ayn Rand anymore. Idk if you're joking or not desu
>>8521072
What is your motive?
Historical, philosophical, political?
Otherwise marxists.org will cover all your needs. They even have a section devoted to introducing the Marxist paradigm to newcomers.
Why are poets always faggy douchebags?
>Shelley - abandoned his wife and kid, tipped his fedora so hard that he was kicked out of Oxford
>Byron - fucked his sister, hated Jews
>T. S. Eliot - so smug that he renounced his US citizenship and became a monarchist
>Pound - so anti-semetic that the Nazis thought he was crazy, loved Mussolini even though he was a degenerate weakling
>literally every slam poet - dumb art school students who would join the Khmer Rouge if their parents disapproved
>>8521066
>implying any of those things are easy
Also:
>Homer - made the foundation of western literature out of gay nationalist fanfic
Plato was right

>nationalistic

Log: 9/1
It's been a long time since I've been able to get ahold of another booklet to scribble down some basic thoughts after the disaster at hand had taken the human race by storm. I'm here, writing with the cross in one hand and book and pen in the other. It has been about two months since the end had begun, and I wasn't taken up by the lord Jesus Christ himself to pass into heaven. As the town's reverend, I had blessed those who were deserted by the lord Christ himself and blessed them with the markof the Lord himself so they could pass into heaven.
It really is hard doing the Lord's work while hell on earth is litereally running rampant as the earth had been swallowed by the beast himself as he came to destroy the earth in the short time he has. I had taken the time to bless those with the mark of the Lord on the sick on their foreheads to wase their suffering while I had blessed the healthy on the hand and coorced them to follow in my footsteps so they could be reunited with our lord, Jesus Christ.
Log : 9/15
I know Armageddon is fast approaching, and I need more time, Lord! I am, in deed, struggling to do your work as you command me to do. Oh merciful lord, spare this forsaken souls of this torture and bless them, for I have given them unto you, oh Lord! I had taken my time to pray for the weary and those who still stand on this forsaken planet and still cannot stop thinking, even in my writing, to ask that you forgive these weak and weary souls so that they may pass unto you, oh Lord, and not face harsh punishment by your rightous hands, Lord.
Log: 9/30
Standing here, I know that tomorrow is the day. I just know that it is, Lord. I know that it is. I can't help but sit here and smile knowing how all those forsaken souls will be passed up to the one true lord and master of men. Oh how splendid the thought is knowing how all of these saved people will be brought to our one true lord so they may be spared if they are willing to bargain. I am so proud to save that I have serve you we, my master. I wish you well in your final fight with him my master, Satan.

It's amazing how his eyebrow continues into his hand.
>>8520920
>can't stretch his legs
>>8520930
This every time
And every time I picture him moving his hand away and that end-of-eyebrow being carried away with it -- once, even, I saw the whole eyebrow go along with it, leaving that half of his face completely bald. His expression of deplorement extended both towards the farcical and the deeply tragic then

Why couldn't they just transfer their minds to Great Race newborns when they were dying?
>>8520900
They foresaw their destruction by the Flying Polyps. There would be no newborns.
So they transferred their minds into the future where there weren't any Polyps. And inhabited the bodies of beetle people, the dominate species on earth after humans.
This also means they left the beetle people minds to dye in their bodies.
>>8521537
I know, but the mass migration would happen in the distant future. When a certain individual was about to die, they would transfer his mind to someone else in a distant place. Wouldn't it be more practical to transfer the dying one's mind to a newborn of their race instead of wasting his knowledge in a far away place?
we talking bout dis? http://www.yog-sothoth.com/wiki/index.php/Bad_Moon_Rising
that scenario blew my mind
Marx or J.S Mill

I don't understand iambic pentameter
It's a bit complicated, but I wrote a villanelle which required me to use iambic pentameter. I can send you a link if you want to use it as a reference.

That'd be fantastic
>>8520790
idr the right terms but it's a unit of an unstressed + stressed syllable repeated five times

Well, this is surprisingly fun to read. Is all philosophy this lively, or is it just the form of a platonic dialogue that imbues it with such readability? I read Crito and Meno before this -- suggestions for where to go next? I was thinking Symposium.
Also, general questions.
Should one make or should one find the right philosophy?
How individual should one be?
Epictetus' Discourses is another fun read, mostly 'class notes' from his students
He discusses like people on 4chan - when someone complains he answers 'Hang yourself'.
This is from another thread.
