Nah, its not being recieved well by establishment pseuds
>>
HAS ANYONE ACTUALLY STARTED READING IT
>>
>>8523578
It wasn't written to impress a broad and (failing that) a bunch of female undergrads, so no.

>>8523581
It is, though. Establishment pseuds must make a show of liking outsider bits when they're getting too relevant.

What is the best version of the Bible?
I have my doubts about KJV because it was made on Protestant England and Vatican II is some shady shit.

the New International Version is a good one, easier to get through, not watered down however.

The best version of the "Bible" is the original Hebrew and Greek texts. If you're too lazy to learn these languages then stop sperging about "best" versions.

Does it need to be literal post-apocalypse? Like, the world ended or whatever? In that case, >>8523560 is probably best.

Can someone give me recommendations on the best loeb latin books to order?

I'm learning latin and i'd like to read some more english/latin books outside of the obvious thing like marcus aurelius or the comedies and so on.

Marcus Aurelius wrote in Greek.

What are you interested in? Cicero's philosophical works are very interesting and easy to read. Suetonius is an entertaining historian.

You gotta narrow it down some, it's like asking "I'm learning French, what should I read in French?" There are Latin farming manuals, there are Latin architectural treatises, there's an interesting Latin work on the administration of aqueduct, there's all sorts of different kinds of poetry, there are historians, letters of different statesmen, etc. etc.

Propertius or Ovid?

I'm looking for a book that is extremely funny in an unfunny way. What I mean by that, is a book which tries purposefully to be as unfunny as possible, but does so in a way that comes off as if it were trying really hard to be funny, when it is intentionally trying to make the most terrible unfunny humor possible.

Only if you're German.

No

Ok. So I've got a working understanding of Hegel and German Idealism in general, have read some secondary material, the Manifesto and am well aware of the political and historical context in which it was written.

I'm now ready to start reading Capital I think. I'm looking for the most respected translation/edition that is currently in print for English. I'm not looking for anything abridged or annotated if possible.

What is it and why?

Alright bitch nigga, I just finished a book and it's time to help me choose what to read next. La bas, nausea, and notes from underground are too fucking difficult, but if you bequeef that I should return then them then I shall do so. However, there's other books which I was thinking about getting into, like I was gonna just get right into infinite jest. I was recently reading moby dick before I picked up another book so I could take a break from it, but if you bequeef that I shall pick up moby dick again from where I left off, then I shall do so.

I just finished pic related and absolutely loved it. I don't even particularly like any other story Mark Twain wrote. My favorite thing about it is the Satan character. I loved reading his lectures on how shit humanity is, even if they did get a little repetitive after a while. That ending was "holy fucking shit" amazing. There is so many great quotes throughout the whole story. So /lit/, can you recommend me any books based off of this?

Go Basho:
his darkening autumn:
my neighbor,
how does he continue?

Let us arrange
these lovely flowers in the bowl
since there's no rice

An ancient pond,
the frog leaps:
the silver plop and gurgle of water

The first soft snow:
leaves of the awed jonquil
bow low

Come, investigate loneliness!
a solitary leaf
clings to the Kiri tree

The first chill rain:
poor monkey, you too could use
a woven cape of straw

Lightning
shatters the darkness―
the night heron's shriek

Fever-felled mid-path
my dreams resurrect, to trek
into a hollow land

This snowy morning:
cries of the crow I despise
(ah, but so beautiful!)

Like a heavy fragrance
snow-flakes settle:
lilies on the rocks

The cheerful-chirping cricket
contends gray autumn's gay,
contemptuous of frost

Whistle on, twilight whippoorwill,
solemn evangelist
of loneliness

The sea darkening,
the voices of the wild ducks:
my mysterious companions!

Will we meet again?
Here at your flowering grave:
two white butterflies

These brown summer grasses?
The only remains
of "invincible" warriors ...

An empty road
lonelier than abandonment:
this autumn evening

Spring has come:
the nameless hill
lies shrouded in mist
>>
Mention the seasons.
And then there's a hairpin turn.
That's the end, Senpai.
