which book you read had the biggest share of foreign language insertions?
To me it is the essais of montaigne. there are hardly any essays there without any herodotus, lucretius, livy, horace, seneca, plato, homer or cicero.
War and Peace had a lot of French in it, which I stumbled through

That's a book for genaration x readers currently in their midlife crisis. Not for millenials.
How do you identify whether a book is good or bad?
>>8600092
I ask /pol/
Making one of a million 'what does /lit/ think of x' thread of course.
>>8600092
You can only know that if you are intelligent enough.
Then you read, and i you found what you read stupid as fuck, then that book is bad. That's why books like Hunter Games and 50 shades of Grey are so popular, because the majority of people are retarded.
Why is philosophy still mostly a male thing?
Why do people keep making these shit threads?

I really just don't give a fuck. You /r9k/ retards are just the other side of the SJW coin.

Why the fuck does he constantly quote in French and even Latin, yet the Greeks he translates.
Either translate all or none at all you fucking bragfag.
>>8599930
Because Greek was higher-level education than French and Latin.
>>8599930
Sadly for us, the average 'good' education in the olden days left its students at least semi-fluent in most European languages of worth (French/German/Latin/English/etc).
Since the turn of the 20th century, societies abandoned 'classical' education in favour of education with a more utilitarian nature/endgame.
>>8599930
Because he probably couldn't into greek, nor was it common for westerners to into greek during that time.

Write about an alien organism that has to hibernate in a human's asshole for five months before bursting out of their sexual organs. In the five months, you produce the most beautifully colored turds.
Is this sentence correct?
>We are Bobby, a tool manufacturer that's highly interested in collaborating with you in creating tool designs.
>>8599848
Sure, though are you sure you want that contraction there?
>>8599872
That's just something I changed quickly, the sentence is about shoe designs
Thx anon
>>8599848
Are they 'Bobby', a tool manufacturer?
Or is the person addressing a person called Bobby?
If you mean the latter, you need a comma before 'Bobby'.

I literally read Infinite Jest.
This is my greatest accomplishment.

I've enjoyed it a lot, only really hated Orin's chapters since I found them pretty boring but loved how Wallace basically described the ins and outs of living at the ETA with Hal and co. Very and I hate this word but the whole atmosphere was cozy.
Don's chapters are also fantastically written, I just finished reading the one where he talks about his father's addiction to the TV show MASH. Seems odd now that people can have an obsession with a TV show like that, build fandoms, wikis and no one would bat an eye. I think Wallace was alluding to that sort of thing.
