Can we discuss this man's ideas? What are the implications of his philosophy on metaphysics and science? Why do you all hate him so much? Is the existence of a-posteriori necessities not an important conceptual breakthrough in philosophy?
>>8608591
What do you want to discuss? His model theory for modal logic is a technical landmark and has basically secured his last name a place in textbooks for centuries to come.
His phil. language is pretty scientistic and not all that great IMO.
All I know is that he blew materialists out, and that's good enough for me
Because ANAL=AUTISTIC philosophy is dumb
Should I get this? apparently some of lovecraft's stories are utter dross, I only want the good ones

He was pretty patchy, whatever volume you get will give you some slightly shitty stories along with the good, just get one.
I have that sitting next to me right now Senpai. It's good. Though it is missing shit like nyarlathotep. Book feels nice and comfy. Smells great too. I would say yes.
What does /lit/ think?
>>8608568
What do you think?
I DON'T KNOW WHAT DO YOU WE THINK GUYS
Meursault is my fav character for sure because my fav thing in books is mundane events, and his book is full to the brim of it. Every chapter is like one of those novelty pet rocks, you open the book & POP you get a face fulla boredom and you fall back asleep. The mad mind, the crack genius, to do it! and then you think hmmm whats he gonna do next, this great mind, and you pick the book back up and BLAM you get a shot to the face and Hahahahahah you've been shot again by old Meursault, that card. "Woops, I was looking at the sun!" he says, half-conscious. Watch him as he takes his mom's corpse and displays her for you- left, right, center- "you think she died today? Or yesterday???" Pulls out a calendar. "Ah!" Hand to naughty mouth. And you're on your ass again getting sleepy as his head snaps on the guillotine and rolls off right.
Is there any non-modern literature that depicts Excalibur pre-Arthur? Like anything about its history or why it was made, other than to give Arthur an unstoppable super weapon?
>>8608555
"Pre-Arthur"? Excalibur/Caliburn/ Caledfwlch is part of the Arthur legends, right from the Mabinogion and Geoffrey of Monmouth (who says the sword was forged in Avalon and Latinises Caledfwlch as Caliburnus). It doesn't have any extant origin story beyond that, certainly nothing predating Arthur mentions.
>>8608788
Sorry, I'm dense. You meant "backstory to Excalibur before it was given to Arthur, as described within Arthurian legends." That should have been obvious first off. This page reasonably summarizes all the primary-source discussions of the sword and its growing role in Arthur's kingship legend, but it doesn't have much more of a story than that until modern authors.

Is there any analysis or literature that explains OP pre-trips? Like anything about the history of trips or why they were made, other than to give OP an unstoppable sequence of digits?

I jerked my cock ever so quickly. Waves and waves of pleasure were soothing my brain as I thought about Jean-Paul's small butt. My dick was as hard as wood, I felt about to burst with the power of one thousand suns...
>something like this?
I'm not talking about his stories but rather about his technical writing skill such as prose and lexicon.
I find him surprisingly pleasant to read, but I'm still a pleb.
What are your thoughts on his abilities, specially considering he did nothing but get high and write.
No. Like most, I like him but his technical skills were at best standard.
>>8608407
Ulysses aside, what sci-fi books would you say have top tier technical writing?
Vonnegut >

At my community college, they teach French and Spanish. Which one is better? Which one lets me read better literature?I like Sci Fi the most btw[/spoiler}
Spain is literally the Mexico of Europe. They still ride carriages to work there.
French, without question
>>8608365
why?
Information is not knowledge.
Knowledge is not wisdom.
Wisdom is not truth.
Truth is not beauty.
Beauty is not love.
Love is not music.
Music is THE BEST.
The best sounds better than music.
>>8608324
One could argue information is indeed knowledge.

In newspaper maybe, but it gets repetitive and boring when you put it all together.
Are there any books about people who stay inside in bed all day?
Brothel ledgers?
Murakami's After Dark explores the themes of NEETdom you are looking for.
Fuck Houellebecq. This is the best french author today. And tomorrow.
