I'm looking to get into Turkish culture, what is a good translation for this book?
Also, anything I should read before this?
>>8609832
Alright that was pretty good.
>>8609832
Also, German translates readily into English, most any translation will suffice.

Yes, but so was Sancho Panza.
Do you guys write? If so, is there a specific place/conditions you like to do it? Do you need silence/to be all alone, to be inspired? I'm not a writer but I am in the situation of writing something, and I've had previous experiences of people reading my stuff (basically bad poetry). It was definitely no fun, because I try to write as honestly as possible and I think if I start to think what other people will think about me I won't be as true as I want. It is not as I never want anyone to read my stuff but definitely not as a sketch coz they'll call me a weirdo or could want to confrontate me. I write to free myself not to get in trouble, if I feel I'm being observed I'll start to censor myself and change my behaviour just like a particle when observed. The fact is I share my room, and lately even the night has been stolen from me as I'm not comfy alone anymore. I've tried to write in libraries (inb4 public writing meme), but the doorman keeps giving me an strange look as don't go there "to study" for some reason they think the libraries are just for students and not every and any person interested o
In Literature. Well, sorry for the novel, bad english and feels.
Depends on what I'm writing. If it's academic such as an essay or paper then I'll most likely go to the library.
If it's creative fiction/prose anywhere alone, or without people that will talk too much to me or distract me. Library, cafe, bedroom, study.
With poetry I like to be outside or alone at night.

I prefer total isolation and to create my own distractions when I write. The trouble is that I am a horrendously SLOW writer...so I need a location with time on my side. Time I can kill slowly.
Admittedly, I need to write more.
What do you think of the works of Kafka

Good taste, Ovid is the shit. Hmm would something like Maldoror count?
>reading books instead of writing them
>reading a book.
>ugh this is awful
>it reads like it was written by someone who doesn't read.

Classics you've never read.
I'll get around to it some day.
>>8609497
As long as you understand amd recognize when people reference it, you're not missing much.
Is infinite jest actually good? I've asked a couple people I know in real life if they would recommend it and they all have said yes to some degree — but after poking a bit more I learn that they've either not finished it or haven't even read it.
What the fuck is this? Is this a meme book? I'm currently waiting for the copy in my library to be available but each day my interest wanes.
>>8609475
I went with my gut feeling and just bought it without consulting anybody. It's a really enjoyable read
>>8609475
It's a meme. The man is dead so it becomes better, this is true in any art form.
>>8609556
No it isn't Jackson Pollocks' work always sucked balls and still does

>Here's how to play.
>Roll by posting.
>Take the number of your post and paste it into an image search engine.
>You'll be writing about an image you find there.
>Easy: Choose any image from the first loaded page of your search
>Medium: Choose any image from the first loaded row of your search
>Hard: Choose the first loaded image from your search
>General tips:
>It's best to keep it spooky.
>Green text is alright, but not as easy to write in for long pieces.
>If you're rolling a lot, take a break.
>Find a neat image but can't write for shit? Post it for others to use.

I happen to be stuck doing the worst English assignment in the history of existence. I have a theme statement and I have to find a fuck ton of different poems and stories that share that theme and then write about them.
I have the poems down pat and completed but I cannot for the life of me FIND short stories at all. Let alone find ones that match the theme I have to use.
This is a plea for help.
If its at all helpful, the theme I have to use is "The living of life is a form of art"
Suggestions on short stories or at least a way to search for them?
Pic related, its my paper if I cant figure this out.

What are the poems?
>>8609415

Is it worth getting an agent and publisher these days or should I just self publish my beautiful masterpieces? Most of them I've come to find are like pic related.
Do whatever man.
I don't think self-published stuff are eligible for awards n shit though.
>>8609380
Get an agent. Pic very much related w/r/t the consequences of not having one.
>>8609394

No. He didn't.
his Qinquiae Viae are among the profoundest and elegant arguments made in the history of philosophy
this is in no way immediately apparent without further study (as is true for many significant philosophers)
