Have there been any authors who truly just hate human beings because they're so stupid? I was watching my facebook feed this morning, saw a video about abstinence only and fear mongering sex education programs in america vs europes sex education starting at age 4 and same sex education and intimacy and all sorts of other stuff etc. I was thinking about all the religious people in the world in general and just feeling like human beings really aren't intelligent in general, and I was thinking about this stupid election happening in america right now, and how it's just so fucking dumb. I really hate human beings, I think this planet is fucking dumb, and it's filled with so many absolute morons. I want to know authors that agree with this notion,
>SO I CAN CONFIRM MY OWN WORLD VIEW HURRRRR!
So I can feel less alone on this awful planet, actually.

High school is tough, huh?
>>8642111
Yep, sure is my friend. Was 4 years ago when I graduated high school too. I have yet to go backwards on the evolutionary scale, I have yet to regress into a more suitable state of mind for this planet. I may have actually made progress, I'm afraid. Fucking progress.
>>8642115
You're low on this scale, you're like a babby taking its first few steps.
Yes, people are dumb, but you getting angry over it means you're not there yet, you're taking life too seriously, you're too connected to the material world. Come back in a few years and see how ridiculous your post is.
Who was in the wrong here?
>>8642103
Everybody. In the world.

Ideology man.
Chomsky cuts him down to size by identifying his identification of ideologies.
Zizek spergs out over a redacted statement made nearly half a century ago.
>>8642108
That was literally my 'edgy' answer before I saw yours. Zizek's too out there but Chomksky's such a god damn square who never says anything you've never thought yourself
I would like to read snobby British books.
Or at least books that grapple with the British class system, i.e. take it for granted and try to work with it, as opposed to rebelling against it. I get the impression there are very many books of this kind. Picrelated is an example.
Any suggestions, /lit/?

Is it safe to say that Henry James is a bootleg James Joyce in terms of the amount of punctuation he used?
>>8641838

is Henry James prose a bootleg version of Joyce's?
>>8641838
No. Where did you get this idea?
>>8641714
His philosophy was the school of hard knocks, and he's unhappy because he got knocked hard
>>8641714
Schopenhauer wasn't unhappy. He played the fuckin' flute for christs sake

Did he play your flute, bbgril?
Would you guys happen to know anything about book restoration? I came into possession of my great grandpa's old Bible and I'd like to get it functional again. I figure I'd see if it was doable on my own, or if I'd need some professional help.

3/3
And as I said, I'd like to just get it functional again, nothing fancy, but if that's not doable I wouldn't mind saving up the money to have it restored, though that may take a while.
I have no advice for you but your great grandpa's bible looks dope af
Is there a good general compendium of Slavic-Russian mythology?
Been searching for 8 years, off and on now, and still found nothing definitive.
>>8641611
do you speak russian?
>>8641611
I believe that a compendium has not been compiled yet.
but this is what I can recomend.
Peлигия Bocтoчных Cлaвян by Viljo Mansikka (if you can read russian)
Land of the Firebird, by Suzanne Massie.
Afanasyev's collection of Russian folk tales
"In search of Indo-Europeans" by Mallory and "Comparative Mythology" by Puhvel has chapters about slavic tribes.
and dont forget pushkins tales

So I've always had great trouble staying dedicated to a book (shit attention span). In some instances, it might as well have been like pulling teeth. However, I recently realized I have a much easier time reading something on a computer screen/ebook/etc. Albeit it still helps if what I'm reading is not rambling, pretentious attempts at being interesting -- I guess what you'd find from a lot of "edgy" authors in general. So yeah, basically masters of conciseness, logic, rationale, etc. I do enjoy fiction if it's a damn awesome sounding story. So yeah.... what do you guys recommend?
