Over the last two months ive slowly become an emotionally hollow machine that lives according to objectivity and reasoning and not art and emotion. I dont feel anything anymore - not from my favorite books or movies, or from anything new im introduced to. Even my admiration for aesthetic appeal is waning dangerously, because i cant even force myself to appreciate style or execution. All i see are vessels of flesh and blood and bone devoid of any intelligence, depth, and free will, and because of this anything that my fellow men create is utterly worthless emotionally and intellectually.
Please guys, i need help. This didnt come from depression, it came from reading too many fucking scientists and philosophers who made it their life goal to show how any importance and depth is an illusion, or "overblown" as Dan Dennett put it. The only emotion i feel anymore is hatred form myself and what ive become, because i used to be overwhelmed with emotion and admiration for art, but now, through my decisions, ive become a nihilistic shell.
Did anyone else on here go through the same thing? Is there any way out? Im so scared that ill stay like this forever and it makes me want to fucking cry.

Sorry if this isn't the place to go for this, but I have a great disliking of Reddit, and this is the only board that wasn't /b/ or /tg/ where this was most likely to fit. Normally, I don't even come to this board.
However, I have a problem.
Being the trashy little man I am, I was reading some fan fiction. Old fanfiction from 2004-2005. The story has quite a few elements in it that I enjoy, but the writing is absolute garbage, and I desire nothing more at present than to rewrite it in such a way that I feel content, and submit what I write to the internet. However, that is basically plagiarism, and I feel guilty for wanting to do so.
So, I made several attempts to contact the author for permission to do so, but all of the contact information is defunct and useless.
So, I am now stuck on this quandary: Should I write it anyway and take my chances with the probably now long-forgotten author coming back to haunt me/being unable to post my work anywhere, or should I just drop it? If the answer is drop, why so?

Arguably the best writer in Spanish language of the last 30 years or so.
Had a pretty weird life, kind of makes you assume this guy couldn't just write about banalities. This also contributed to his posthumous mythification, specially since a lot of his works are semi-autobiographical.
I enjoyed the Savage Detectives best, the second part of the novel (the interviews) is the best thing he ever wrote, at least from a formal standpoint.
There's some good stuff in his novellas (By Midnight in Chile, A little lumpen novella) and his short stories (Sensini, Putas asesinas). His poetry is pretty bad though.
He seems to draw heavily from Borges and Cortázar and write against most of the latin-american canon.
Don't look for plot or a very strong cohesion in his works cause he's all about themes.
Personally I find his way of seeing the epic in defeat really appealing
