FYI you can just download those online. Information isn't a commodity anymore.

It's a good book, much lighter and more entertaining than Dostoevsky's other books. It reminds me too much of a harem anime so I got a little creeped out but it is sweet and sad enough to be of good quality.

What are the big academic journals for contemporary research in philosophy? Specifically in fields like Logic, Phil. Language, Phil. Maths, etc.
You can rank them by impact: http://www.scimagojr.com/journalrank.php?category=1211
>>8742287
Know of a place to get free online copies of these journals?
>>8742308
libgen has scientific journals, they might likely have these too
We need to spread high culture to the masses
But that would make it low culture
>>8742206
I'm in. Sick poor people coughing in my art galleries would be a welcome addition.

is there really anyone dumb enough to believe that Merchant of Venice is an anti-semetic play instead of an obvious critique of ethnic persecution?
There sure are /pol/ crossposters and kiddies that don't know better.
is there anyone stupid enough to believe shakespeare isn't a cheeky cunt who manages both at once

Shylock was wrong to not show mercy
And how do you like it? Would you recommend it? What's next on your list?
Finishing up a lot and trying to hold back starting up too many more. So much good stuff but so little time

Measure for Measure, by William Shakespeare.
Next I think I'll read Kipling's Just So Stories, since it's a short work.
Nothing atm.
I usually don't read on the weekends.
As for what's next, I'm leaning towards The Silent Cry by Kenzaburo Oe, but that might change.
>thinks: "hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I wonder if I could sell more books by killing myself"

That's an artistic statement.
David Bowie.
Are there any modern writers who are influenced by non-literary or unconventional art and ideas? I'm getting bored of the uninspired traditional academic Western canon/postmodernism worship that is all too common. Eventually creating new literature out of reused ideas from old literature feels incestuous.
Like how pic related was influenced by jazz and William Carlos Williams by painting etc
>>8742031
Yeah, by memes
>>8742031
>jazz
ew
why is incest bad btw
>>8742031
Every author iis influenced by on n literary culture. The Greeks were influenced by philosophy and oration, the classics by religion and politics, fucking Tolkien just wanted to show off his love of linguistics...
But I guess you could read Anne rice or Stephen king, they definitely aren't inspired by western canon

Three volume edition masterrace reporting in.
Some passages of 2666 are really good, but the books isnt even finished, it seems like it had 0 editing
TSD, some great passages, other ones really drag, the interview like structure is nice, some characters are great (the nazi, quim, the journo at the end in áfrica)
7/10
Havent read anything else from him, are any of his shorter novells better?
I think I like Bolaño, he had talent but people really over hype him
I like how TSD is kind of a picture of the south american scene now days, a fucking mess of artsy try hards with more mental illness than talent
Sorry for my bad english
What are some books that seem to genuinely affirm life and the human condition as worthwhile?
Been feeling muh existential lately, would like to see something convincing that says putting up with all the bullshit that existence throws at you is somehow not so terrible.

Dear Mr. Jacques,
I must say that your letter made me very alarmed and hungry. To begin, with all due respect, I question the use of your swastika envelopes.

how the fuck did mice tame horses?
i really liked these books when i was a kid.
Ok now that I know that someone else has read this book in real life besides that one kid from high school that I later found out was forced to give a man oral sex (raped) at gunpoint...
This needs to be made into a brutal, game of thrones-Esque animated film so bad.
