October was great; November has been shit.
what does it mean to be "deep," /lit? i occasionally read this one dude's blog, and saw that he posted on the topic today:
https://catilineconspiracy.com/2016/11/29/8-16-on-the-notion-of-the-deep-and-depth/
thoughts? how do you get deep?
Depth is measured by the greatness of one's appearance. The greater the appearance, the greater the depth.
>>8777694
how do you create the appearance of depth? and what do you mean by "greatness"?
>>8777653
I think to be 'deep' means that the ideas contained within can be extended, abstracted, and applied fruitfully to other areas of life, philosophy, or what have you. Of course, the ideas should also be novel in some way, if I were to merely restate something that everyone already is intimately familiar with I doubt anyone would call that 'deep'.
How do I say I love you in a way that is not I love you that is subtle doesn't show attached I am but will melt a slightly cynical woman's heart?

"I'm here because I want to be."

the fact that you typed this out means that it's not gonna work out

I came to this thread to meme but this is actually pretty good
Was deconstruction a mistake? Was it a big fucking waste of time?
What is deconstruction? I tried reading the Wikipedia but it's not clicking for me
What is wrong with subverting the cliches that pile up in a certain form of artistic expression?
deconstruction brings the vernacular back to the mythological completing the cycle of history. to call it a mistake is a miss steak.
>Once, to get rid of a young woman who was interested in him, he gave her a toad he had caught in the garden of the hotel he was staying at wrapped in a bloody handkerchief. He suggested she use it as a subject for her paintings
Was he our guy?
of course he was, who else could be?
He was most definitely /ourguy/.

Am I the only one that finds his writing uneven? I swear, what I've read of him varies between actually good prose and tryhard show-offery.
The only times BM had me engaged were the Guano scene, the war speech, and the ending, for example.

Why does he look like his momma and poppa were siblings?

What are some books that explore the relationship of purity and impurity in the Modern/Industrial Society?
Journey to the End of the Night somewhat went there to some degree.

Fuck off you pretentious cuck! Nobody reads your nazi memeboi anymore.
God-tier travel books? I've read Kapucinski's Imperium and Travels with Herodetus, Slocum's Sailing Alone Around the World, as well as some others, and am about halfway through My Journey to Lhasa by Alexandra David-Neel.
What are some of the best you've read? The wierder and more eclectic the better. I want to read about places I can't believe actually exist(ed)

travels of marco polo
Ibn Battuta
Homage to Catalonia

Also Incidents of Travel in the Yucatan. The same author did one to Petra as well.
What exactly did he mean by this?
what a stupid fucking face
a face mourning empiricism, legs straddling vibrating tomes of the noumenon

for real though, his writing is bad enough, but it's like his face and voice almost match the enormity of his writing
Which Homer translation is the best?
And not Alexander Pope please, I don't want to read that autistic old english with Roman god names.
Steven lattimore just for convention and the fact he's probably the best qualified and merited modern translator in academia.
I've read Fagles, Butler, and Lattimore. Lattimore was far and away the best/.
