My pompous, pretentious professor asked me to not use alliteration in my writing, but the truth is, I can't help it. It is necessary to my neat nature to alliterate in every sentence. I believe that for a prose to be prismatic, polished and potent, there should be at least one alliteration in a sentence, otherwise your prose is inutile, inartful and inaesthetic. If you want to have an entertaining, enchanting, enthralling prose, then you should use alliteration. You should always alliterate ad infinitum! If you don't, I don't respect you. Sorry.

Hit the gym, no book will provide the same amount of dopamine and serotinine. More energy and motivation to read and write, just don't fall for the self-help scam.
I wasn't sure if I should post this here or on /his/.
I'm writing a "book" concerning my opinion on society & its development as well as the impact of humanity's increasingly large supply of information on the minds of people.
The first few chapters will concern society's gradual development towards laziness and intellectual unreliability in the 21st century.
Would you read that?
Depends. Is sociology something you've studied formally or are you a hack?

Yes, your unique opinion is incredibly important and valuable to me, Nameless Anon. Please tell me how technology and Internet ruined things
So I noticed that Amazon has now added a paperback option to their self-publishing site. Is this worth it? Has anybody tried it?

Knowing what we know now about all literary greats, story telling, writing, etc., how would a person in 2016 go about becoming a literary giant?
For example, perhaps starting strong with poetry writing to become an expert sentence constructor (Joyce did this I believe). What else?

No matter what, you gotta actually write.
You'll never become great if you sit on your ass on /lit/ instead of writing.

this makes a lot of sense
Step 1: Realise that writing a talent, not a skill
Step 2: Realise that you have no talent
Step 3: Become a creative writing teacher

Yeah, it's really great, if you understand what the author is trying to say,
Don't waste your time on this shit. No, it's not good. The TV show is just as entertaining without wasting the time you dedicate towards reading.

Learning Greek will definitely give you a much broader understanging of English etymologies, in particular in science and medicine. The formal aspects of the language, like flexion and syntax will add greatly to your ability to learn modern languages where similar formal elements are used, e.g. German; and you will gain a stronger sense of how to compose undersrandable, effective written and spoken English. But even leaving those things aside, you will open yourself up to the greatest literary banquet the world has ever known. Even taking into account the vast number of Greek texts we've lost, the surviving cannon contains arguably some of the greatest prose and verse ever composed on this little blue marble. These texts aren't just interesting to read, they're often truly soul-enriching, as you develop a deeper understanding of the emotional and psychological elements of humanity that have drven people to act for thousands of years and will continue to do so. I started taking Greek on a whim, and it has doubltlessly been the best decision I ever made.

STIRNER THREAD, feel free to talk about anything related to the madman and his oeuvre.
I hear talk of a new translation in the works, does anyone know anything?
Also, does anyone know a good German study edition of Stirner? I have the Reclam on like most people I guess, but the Nachwort is dated and I miss annotations.
I'd like more secondary literature as well, I can post/refer to stuff I've found interesting if anyone cares, too.
