How many books did you aim to read in 2016?
How many books did you actually read?

Didn't aim.
40 or more, wasn't keeping track.
I'm looking for a story with a character that feels so strongly that he does not fit into society, because he just has so many weird thoughts that he feels that those around him couldn't possibly understand. He's into some really weird shit that no one else would understand and he has to hide his emotions a lot, because he's afraid of what people might think.

Knut Hamsun's first three novels

sounds like schizotypal disorder.
I'm trying to get it published, friend. It's about a virgin neet who suffers from apocalyptic hallucinations brought on by a grass roots, neo-fascist uprising. He can predict the future but can't tell anyone because of Cassandra syndrome.
In this thread we post god tier latin american authors
I feel this thread has run its course.
>He is white
Huh really fires up those neurons

And you can close this thread now. Nice work everybody.
It seems wrong to bash her for writing shit without proving that we can at least be as shitty as her. I'll start:
why do we have to settle
for some ugly body and ugly soul
we deserve
someone with a body as hard as
our own lives
I cannot wait until she's slightly older, and not a "young attractive female poet" anymore, just a "female poet," and desperately wondering why all her attention evaporated
I DON'T UNDERSTAND??? WHAT BOUT ME CHANGED???? I STILL WRITE BLANK VERSE ABOUT HOW MEN LOOKING AT ME IS IRRITATING WHEN I'M ON MY PERIOD????? AREN'T I STILL RILKE????????????????????????
love people no matter their skin
their face, which will grow old
love can beat hate
don't be like trump
a little weight
is nothing to worry about
a lot of weight
is nothing to hate someone for
what matters is inside
your privilege is nice
fair skin, a bulge in the pants
but to give it up
is so much greater
you need a vacation
they need a meal
rich men who don't give
won't find peace inside

Anybody read this?
I thought it was quite good.
>In B4 genre fictions pleb
Pretty neat but lacking in substance to justify its length.

my feelings towards most non-PKD genre fiction
>>8916634
as is typical with non-stanislaw lem genre fiction, fascinating in concept, lacking in execution.
When agents list their favorite books why do they only choose utterly forgettable contemporary novels? Are they trying to be relatable to the current market or do they really not know any better?
It's their job to be up to date with contemporary fiction, they probably don't have time to read much else.
Agents are mostly women and women are plebs
When frogposters list their favorite books why do they go off on tangents that turn into whining about inconsequential actions of people they don't like and feel morally superior to? Are they trying to be autistic fags or do they really not know any better?
Do you guys take selfies when a book makes you cry?
Books don't make me cry I make books cry, faggot.
That is not a selfie unless she is some kind of genetic freak.
But I do read a book when someone taking my photo makes me cry.

Any books where humanity perishes, but on its own accord and not under the pressure of some external force?
bump, surely there is some sci-fi on this?

Any newspaper, its an ongoing series
Was it really necessary to have pages and pages of details of them playing the gravity ?
>write sci-fi novel about kids fighting in zero-G
>becomes bestseller
>has massive fanbase
>go online to see fans discussing it
>turns out fans are autistic teenagers who think it's "red-pilled" and don't actually care about the zero-G battles

i started reading another of Awful Spot Tard's books - don't remember which one - and in the first few pages, the protagonist's older brother was beating the shit out of him.
was OSC abused by his older brother?
>when he says "juxtapose" more than once in one hour
>when he says "troglodyte" 4 times in one afternoon
>when he says "incontrovertible" because he just watched HP: Order of the Phoenix
>when he says "synecdoche" trying to sound smart but actually misuses it
More like this.
>>8916495
also
>when he says "abattoir" because he started to read through the dictionary but stopped after only three pages

Good thread anon
Hey OP, it will be a juxtapose if I were placed next to you, because you are obviously a troglodyte, it's simply something incontrovertible.
This is just a synecdoche of your faggot life.
I purchased a brand new noebook, and I have a nice fountain pen. What should I write inside?
What do you write in your notebooks?

Four steps to enlightenment the no bullshit way:
Step 1: Develop an unconditional trust in logic
(Goal of the step: connect a positive emotion to logic (instead of having a cold or neutral feeling).)
Step 2: Find what emotionally drives you
Goal of the step: find the core emotion associated with your existential need of inner balance
The reason why we want to feel comfortable and safe in our lives boils down to our craving for existential balance.
Step 3: Realize that as long as experience is the goal, your life won't feel complete or meaningful
Goal of the step: complete a paradigm shift in which you realize that experience as a goal is damaging and logic as a goal is meaningful
Step 4: Follow a few guidelines to make sure the enlightenment is permanent
Once you follow these 4 steps, you gain the awareness that your experience only emerged as a tool for life. Thus, it is not about you anymore but about thriving beyond measure by helping life itself, using logic as your guide to stay consistent with reality.
As soon as you get enlightened, you will experience:
-a rush of dopamine in your brain;
-a euphoric feeling;
-a tremendous relief.
What do you think /lit/?
Logic is not a goal you stupid faggot
>>8916399
Logic is everywhere and logic is everything there is.
To build up a deep trust and feel safe with logic, you need to understand how deep it is rooted in everything you ever saw or will see. Not only that but also how our understanding of the mathematical patterns that nature follows is what has allowed to thrive beyond our imagination. Once you realize that logic is not cold math but rather the very essence of all beauty around us, you will be able to find a new meaning in it. If it weren't for logic, you wouldn't be here posting this.
How important is it to know an authors life if you're reading his book? Randomly decided to check up on his life and it really puts things in a new perspective. Heard it's pretty much mandatory if you want to read Kafka, too. Do you check up on your authors?
I do not know the way I should interpret your post, OP.
Perhaps you could tell me a bit about your life so I can obtain the perspective that is necessary to come to a harmonic understanding.

It depends on the author. If it's someone puddle deep like Franzen it doesn't matter but with anyone who writes anything more than slightly complex it helps.
Did the Kierkemeister ever provide an explanation for his believing in god (and even going as far as the Christian god)?
>>8916370
He hated the concept of believing in God for "reasons". The reasonable and the theological are separate domains
Believing in god the Kierkegaard way is trying to delude yourself to be ignorantly happy. You can't fool yourself, and you know it.
no the point is to 'take the leap of faith' to escape despair.
