What is the litmus test for /lit/ to determine if a library is worth searching through?

can someone explain why pic related is funny, I don't get it

Comparison between ancient aristocratic values vs modern bourgeois values, while implyng a homosexual and feminine nature in the latter
Its not "funny", its the TRUTH
socrates was a NIGGER
>So much literature to read, I'll never read it all, what a pleasant abundance!
>I'll never get back to re-read the books that I want to
THIS is a predicament.
>>9953812
Reminds me of that one Twilight Zone episode. Props to anyone who gets that refference.
Re-reading a book is more enjoyable and more important and more useful than reading a new book. In my opinion at least.
>>9954057
I can see the reasoning for this. I could re-read and read deeper this time, learn more hopefully.
I want to re-read Gravity's Rainbow, but that's so big, and I have a stack of new books (including a new Pynchon) on the way! That and Ice by Anna Kavan (for my third time), I dunno what I'll end up doing.
do you have to read books to talk about them?
no, nobody on this board does.
there's only one you have to read.
In all sincerity, I just read the wikipedia pages and a few reviews to talk about the books here. And yes I recommend books I've never read too.

Im Westen Nichts Neues
Pic unrelated. Lit, why here so many threads about deleuze but we never discuss here about another pensee de france, Blanchot for example?
Go to dialektikz posting on facebook, they can actually talk about Deleuze there. It's insufferable, really
look, if enough people here read your boy Blanchot, then there would be enough discussion about him. simple as that
If people here ever read blanchot, they would stop posting here immediately
That is to say this is my last post here
Join me en le dehors
I'm the only person I know who's read him, where nobody I've asked even knows who he is. Pynchon is a CIA meme designed to make us all look crazy.
>>9953616
hehe jews and normies!! xD
I made two pinecone threads today and now there's more. I'd feel like we'd be, er, um... shitting up the place. But anyone who dislikes Pynchon here probably thinks they know all the old timey dances, "The Big Apple"... "The Charleston"... but hey? I bet they never done the Kenosha Kid.
Let me ask you a question /lit/: how to be happy and content?
>inb4 /his/
Recommend books on the topic of happiness.
>self-help books
This is a literature board.

balance of social and intellectual activities. Working out, going to see a therapist if you really have a big problem, reading Nietzsche
Having a set of personal morals, virtues and values that you hold to in EVERY situation.
>These days, an increasingly diverse group of participants has transformed debate competitions, mounting challenges to traditional form and content by incorporating personal experience, performance, and radical politics. These “alternative-style” debaters have achieved success, too, taking top honors at national collegiate tournaments over the past few years.
>In the final round, Ruffin and Johnson squared off against Rashid Campbell and George Lee from the University of Oklahoma, two highly accomplished African-American debaters with distinctive dreadlocks and dashikis. Over four hours, the two teams engaged in a heated discussion of concepts like “nigga authenticity” and performed hip-hop and spoken-word poetry in the traditional timed format. At one point during Lee’s rebuttal, the clock ran out but he refused to yield the floor. “Fuck the time!” he yelled. His partner Campbell, who won the top speaker award at the National Debate Tournament two weeks later, had been unfairly targeted by the police at the debate venue just days before, and cited this experience as evidence for his case against the government’s treatment of poor African-Americans.

I have tried to start J. G. Ballard threads on /lit/, but no one here reads him apparently. I've read Super-Cannes, and have Crash on the way. I'd love to discuss Atrocity Exhibition with you, but I haven't read it.
Have a bump for brighter futures.
>>9954562
The ballard threads never last, i read concrete island and a user guide to the millenium.
He was funny, desu
>>9953443

>focusing on internalizing classics like Homer or the Bible simply because of their influence when the influenced is actually available and approachable (and relevant)

A short but edifying read:

Is it still worth it to publish erotica on Amazon? Lately I've been thinking of doing this. I'd be fine with making chump change, but at least it would be somewhat fun, and less mind numbing than a "real job". I know some basics like how Kindle Unlimited payout works now, and how different prices have different amounts of royalty, but I haven't published anything yet.
Or should I try to write some actual romance novel or other "chick-lit"? I'm fine with "selling out", I just want to try my hand at this.
