Planning to apply to Catholic seminary if I fail with my application for Philosophy.
This is going be pretty fun, cause deep down I am atheist.
>>9021187
how hard is it to join a church? might just do it for shits
>>9021197
For applying you have to fake your shit to show that you are truly a devout, and you truly believe god, and that you have been converted or even had visions.
Then they will check your exam results, and get you in if they are ok with them (they are).
Then 5 years of studying Bible (or other Holy Book), pretty much student life (but have to wake up each day at 5 AM).
And then you can read books and be assured that you are 'set for life', probably better choice would be joining not-catholic, cause Celibate.
I'd love to hear what Bill Gates thinks of IJ. He's a very acute reader.

Man, that was almost a good joke, Bill.

Whats your favorite bible verse /lit/? Mines Psalms 91:5
used to be philippians 1:21 when i was a teen and in an evangelical space
now it's psalm 115
"Not to us, Lord, not to us
but to your name be the glory,
because of your love and faithfulness.
2 Why do the nations say, “Where is their God?”
3 Our God is in heaven; he does whatever pleases him.
4 But their idols are silver and gold, made by human hands.
5 They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but cannot see.
6 They have ears, but cannot hear, noses, but cannot smell.
7 They have hands, but cannot feel, feet, but cannot walk,
nor can they utter a sound with their throats.
8 Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.
9 All you Israelites, trust in the Lord— he is their help and shield.
10 House of Aaron, trust in the Lord— he is their help and shield.
11 You who fear him, trust in the Lord— he is their help and shield.
12 The Lord remembers us and will bless us: He will bless his people Israel,
he will bless the house of Aaron,
13 he will bless those who fear the Lord— small and great alike.
14 May the Lord cause you to flourish, both you and your children.
15 May you be blessed by the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
16 The highest heavens belong to the Lord, but the earth he has given to mankind.
17 It is not the dead who praise the Lord, those who go down to the place of silence;
18 it is we who extol the Lord, both now and forevermore.
Praise the Lord."
the religion (practice) described in these verses is so pleasing to me. worship a Living God now, in this life. that is all i can reach for.
Micah 6:8
Matthew 6:25-34
25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
as a kid, i loved psalm 23
I find myself not having much time to commit to large books (300+ pages is large in my book (pardon the pun)). I heard about The Turner Diaries and found it to be a little over 100 pages long. So, is it worth a read or is it a full on GAS THE KIKES #RACEWARNOW wet dream of a /pol/tard?
My friend is a /pol/lack, and according to him it is worth the read, and yes, it is.
If you've seen those /pol/ green text far-left dystopian images (stopped since 2016 with Trump, but you know the ones from prior), it's apparently like a 100 page version of that that is completely tongue-in-cheek.
>>9021064
Apparently Hunter is much better.

>My friend is a /pol/lack, and according to him it is worth the read, and yes, it is.
Your friend is a literal pleb if he thinks this is good literature. It's a litmus test and he fuckin failed it.
THE QUESTION WILL BE SETTLED THROUGH DEMOCRATIC VOTE

How do you like it? Would you recommend to someone to grind through those gorillion amount of pages or is the meme true that it falls flat after book three?
>>9020974
It's a super comfy read tbqh. memes can sometimes be comfy.
>>9020974
It gets better after book three, but Joe Public hates having to think. The small increase in literary merit has been deemed boring by the troglodytes who make up the bulk of Martin's audience.
First Book was a chore and felt like I had to slog through the filler upon filler to get to any good part.
Second Book picked up nicely and kept my attention throughout rather well.
Third Book is amazing even without the context of the other two before it.
Fourth Book was good mind you but how it was structured felt rather off and was lacking a lot of what I enjoyed about it predecessors.
Book Five to be frank wasn't very good. It didn't move the story along that well and some of the events of the book just felt pointless.
Its a great series don't get me wrong but the amount of filler chapters combined with the literal snail's pace it can be difficult to get through. Not to mention the author likes to take his sweet time. Well be lucky if we get Book Six in 2018.
Serious question, is the only reason you would buy a.physical book over an ebook these days is to have a nice bookshelf (vanity)?
No. I dont have a ereader, and one cost about half of my monthly salary
>>9020963
I like to annotate my book physically and I hate typing any tablets/e-readers
also yes I suppose I would do it for vanity if I have friends that would be impressed by my collection
cuz i prefer holding physical books instead of reading them from a retarded quasi-ipad
I need this book really badly to save my grade. If any anon can find it online for me I will send you $20 via paypal.
If you do find it make sure to post your paypal in your post, so someone else can't take credit.
I'll buy you the book if you show me ya dick.

Fuck off. If you're serious, reread the end of the book.

Pedophilia is far from being normalised. Ask yourself, what would happen if I (25 years old) started courting a prepubescent/pubescent girl in America?

Is Kafka the most studied writer of the 20th century?
And, dare I say, the most important?
No its Joyce
No, fuck this kike.

I'm struggling to find bedtime stories to read to my 9 y.o lil bro and my 6 y.o himouto.
are you looking for short stories or long ones you can tell piece by piece? 6 seems a bit young for such long ones.
what have you read so far?
how long do you want to read per bedtime?
my son is 5, so we stick to short stuff for now.
i always get different books from the library so they are pretty random. if he's a bit older i will read him some ende, lindgren and hohler.
he really likes the books written by preusseler and loves the short stories from hohler. but that's a local author that didn't get translated afaik. maybe i could translate some of those stories?
they are pretty weird and mostly without trying to shoehorn a moral into you. i like that.
