So who are some up and coming geniuses in the field of literature, philosophy and the humanities in general?

Mr. Collin Andrew Yost

This. He's fantastic.
Any books about how all-powerful capital is?
Especially with regard to social change. Something along the lines of how progressivism, environmentalism, war, civil rights, lgbt, etc. are all just pushed by corporations for the sake of opening up markets or increasing capital, and that all individuals'/activists' interests are entirely manipulated.
It doesn't matter whether it's pro-/anti-capitalist, left/right, whatever.
I know Marx's materialist dialectic and Land's self-perpetuating capital intelligence basically imply this, but something which more specifically discusses the issues above would be better.
probably not because you're just making up an argument that's suuuuuper simplistic and ignores like every other factor imaginable in social movements and change. very simple reading of capital itself. just keep reading marx, really is the best lens for understanding capital's power over government and society.
>>9961661
>keep reading Marx
Eww
I'm looking for something like this too. I would - sort of - reduce capital to human behaviour and group dynamics though. While it is about politics, I think The Dictator's Handbook is relevant. You could also look into complexity science, like the popular-scientific book The Origin of Wealth.
Not my cup of tea, but I had The Rebel Sell on my reading list and that might be relevant too.
It's better than The Trial.
Of course it is.

but its not finished. it probably would have been remembered as his big novel if he had just finished it. i dont think anyone wants to go into a novel knowing it doesnt end

How do I learn another language aside from Duolingo? What is the more literary language - French or German?
>>9961349
Neither. French and German are both irrelevant languages that won't even be spoken in their home-countries in 50 years.
Learn Russian. All the Chinese are learning English for a reason, but Russian literature is far superior.
Duolingo is only good for the application of grammar and practise forming sentence structure. To learn vocabulary, use Memrise, which has audio as well for popular languages.
It's not always necessary to have classes or a tutor, just get yourself decent grammar and exercise books. If there's a particular language you're learning I have a ton of resources for loads.
Watch tv in your target language, read books at all difficultly levels, listen to music. It's cliche advice but it's incredibly helpful.

What the fuck happened to Tao Lin?
He went from alt-lit, post-ironic avante garde to herb-eating, psychedelic-obsessed 9/11 conspiracy theorist in like 2 years.

This + maub'deepo-chan potato "philosophy" presenting itself as the wisdom of an intergalactic Christ. Some of it's an alright read but I found a lot of it unbearable.
I want to read pic related, Organon and Ethics.
1. Are they very difficult?
2. Are only some chapters/books worth reading and the rest skipping?
3. Are they worth reading? Like, will I need knowledge of Aristotle for Kant?
On face value it won't seem too difficult. But there's a lot lying there beneath the surface. When you start reading the later scholars and commentators you'll really begin to appreciate the difficulty and the subtlety of the work that is being done by these people. It really is awe-inspiring.
And of course you should read the whole fucking book. Do you really want to say some day "I only read books II and VI of NE" instead of "Yeah, I've read those"?
>>9961072
Hes probably in the top 10 of most difficult philosophers in the Western Tradition.
his "book" is a chaotic cluster of lecture notes
>>9961072
1. Organon and Ethics are mostly readable, Metaphysics is very difficult. Read Plato first: Aristotle's philosophy is partly criticism of Plato.
2. For the Metaphysics, if you do not care about reading whole books, read Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta and Lambda. Make sure you read Delta, Aristotle defines several key concepts there. Zeta is very hard, you could glance over that or read a secondary source on it.
3. Definitely worth it. You will encounter Aristotle a lot in Medieval and Arabic philosophy, but also in modern philosophers like Kant and Hegel, and postmodern authors like Heidegger. If you are interested in politics, consider reading Politics as well.
Good luck.
Can anyone recommend an excellent flashcard website for learning vocabulary

Is this guy /lit/ kosher?
>>9961022
Heh heh hehe he's actually talking about himself which is what makes it funny.
Koshering is a practice of brutally slaughtering animals so no.
Do youse reckon this is worth a buy?
hell no
>>9960890
Absolutely not. I want the Mozart letters one though.
The whole collection altogether isn't really, but there are some that are interesting.
I wish I had a few more of them.
Is it really time to stop reading white male authors /lit/?
Should I feel bad for reading them?
A thread died for this.
White males are the only people who have ever written anything worth reading.
>>9960871
Umm, that's kinda anti-Semitic, sorry! You're going to have to retract.
