I just finished watching "A very wanted man" and am interested in contemporary novels dealing with Islamic extremism in western nations and particularly with counter measures by intelligence agencies.

Mainly looking for novels but some non fiction might be ok.

Bump for counter jihadi espionage novels.

I know some of Houllbeque's novels deal with Islam in France but I'm not sure if they're relevant as I've never read them...
>>
Mine, almost. Although its...fantasy? I always described it as "horror opera" based on space opera, but a clunkier term might be something like dark teological fantasy. Just buy it when its done

This book fucking sucks.

The most highly overrated piece of literature (and author) ever.

>Terrible writing.
>Plot is literally a bunch of rottin' tootin' cowboys riding from town to town raping, murdering and being unnecessarily cruel to animals and people
>Nothing is learned from reading this book
>The occasional good 1-2 paragraphs of prose, the rest is variations of "and they rode on through town x and across the long dusty streets and did X and killed Y and killed niggers and nigger and and and and and and and and *breathes* and and and nigger.

Is this the absolute best Americans can do?

Really makes you think

I live in one of the largest cities in the United States. If I saw someone reading a book outside of a train, library, university, or Starbucks attached to a Barnes and Noble, I would think they were being affectatious.

I can understand why many people read in NYC during lunch breaks, on the train, in the parks, in cafes, even in bars.

The mass of shitty people is so tremendous it is very cathartic to pull inward into a good book.
>>
I don't know what "afffectatious" means.

Dying inside is the most depressing book I have read, but there is also Dr. Zhivago which is more of a pity party of drama.

I live in Toronto and lots of neighborhoods have things called "little free libraries". It's a little hutch you leave books in for other people. Every week I take my bundle buggy and collect the books and trade them in for cash at BMV. Might get a dollar max, but hey every dollar counts. Does your city have these?

there's one in a disused phone box near me. mostly full of shit but I usually check on the way past anyway, I got a copy of Mr Palomar last week..
>>
>>9210834
Oh shit that's not bad. Yeah they are usually filled with crap but I always get random fantasy and 50 shades of grey books that BMV buys every time. The ones they won't pay me for I just give to them for free. They probably think I'm crazy.

These are littered all over Cambridge as well. If you go by the ones in/near Harvard you can score some pretty dope stuff from time to time.
