How Do I get good a grammar and syntax?

I feel like I have interesting thoughts and even intresting ways to express those thoughts, but I am embaressed by my own shity writing ability.

I am STEM so I dont really need to improve my writing beyond its current level. However, I know at some point I will have to present my writing to some one who actually knows how to use a conjunction.

Here is sample I just wrote for class.

http://pastebin.com/zukK9WsN

It reads to me exactly the same as the book reports I wrote in fith grade with more "grown up" words thrown in.

Give It to me straight /lit/.

/lit/ taught me to at least vet and browse translations.

So because of /lit I gave myself such a fuss about choosing my first reading of Iliad. I made the decision to read Pope first after comparing sections and reading about the background of different translations.

Finally feeling good about getting into the Greeks, I mentioned my latest reading in a thread specifically about Iliad and the only response to me ever was
>hurr Pope is not even Iliad.

I mean... Fuck this place for real.

If I'm wet for a philosopher, I'll read books by authors around the same time period. If it's just fiction I'll pick at random a book form my backlog (which I put together between here, the sticky, and research).

If I have an author I like, I'll go on wikipedia and check out his influences. It's how I found K in the first place.

What would be a good answer if you were asked in a job interview what your favourite book is?
Would you be honest, pick something that signals stamina or something practical?

>>
>>9227266
that is my father's favourite book. I would probably be honest and say Borges' Ficciones. Depends on the job though.

I only look at Harry Potter stuff to remind me of my younger self and how I wasn't a depressed loser then. I don't care about any of the new stuff, or any merchandise.
>>
Is Hufflepuff the cuckoldry house?
>>
I would actually consider buying one of these....if the special editions had any bonus chapters relating to each house, and delve further into House Lore and the general behavior and attitude of the students...

I think Ravenclaw is the most interesting house, but the only real mention of them in the books is that Asian girl who friendzones Potter.

Just finished this. What do I think about?

I'm the opposite. Every time I attempt to study philosophy I get the 'who gives a shit I'm a depressed brainlet anyway' feeling and read poetry for pretty verses instead
>>
>>9227050
Nah, its the best time, philosophy will make you depressed so there's nothing to lose when you already feel that way

I've never been into books, but I realised recently that I see a lot of fancy words on /pol/ and /sp/, and I don't really know a lot of words like that myself.

I'm trying to up my game.

I've heard 'malpropism' and 'drole' tossed around. I understand most of these fancier English words are actually French, correct?

I don't think the meme text counters the fact that whoever took the OP pic is a colossal wanker pseud
>>
I saw someone on another sites pol use the word "jape" and I was like must be a typo but everything else in his text was legit so I looked it up then I was like well shit that's some pynchonian shit
>>
>>9226956
>>9226966
So so far we've got:

> pseud: poser
> jape: prank
> pynchonian: talking shit with fancy words

So I could tell some fagwad "That was a shit jape you pynchonian pseud".

I spent 10 years of my life writing a book about a boy who morphs into a cheetah to battle an evil race of aliens called the Yeerks only to find out this was the exact plot of Animorphs #11 So I spent 10 more years rewriting it so that the boy morphs into a rhino and guess what? Turns out Animorphs did that too I've learned that the only real capital-T Truth in life is that pretty much all the good animals have already been taken and it's up to each of us to accept this and move on or else be eternally enslaved to that tiny voice in the back of our head that whispers Maybe no one's done barracudas yet'

Just finished William Gibson's Neuromancer and found it really comfy.

Should I just move through his body of work or are there other (ideally contemporary) cyberpunk books you'd recommend?
