Paul B. Preciado (1970-), but he is not actually a novelist more like a cultural theorist.

For novels I will go for Jonathan Franzen (1959-) (I know, I know, I am trying to read more contemporaneous things now). I haven't read DFW yet.

Which is the writer in the pic of OP?

Also, >>9323102, do you have any personal recommendation by David Eggers? Can you explain why do you like it?

this threads interest me

Alright what the fuck was the point of this. Watched the goddamn kino and thought "hmmm wtf was the point of this". SO I READ THE BOOK and now I'm thinking wtf was the point of this?! What the fuck did shasta want doc to help her with? Why didn't he help her? What was good with Nicky Wolfman? Alright he helped the snitch out. That's all that really happened. The only other pinecone I read was mason and dixon and that was amazing, the ending made me cry. But this? What the fuck was those garbage?

None of those are big words or outside of what they teach at a basic high school level

Sounds like you're a massive brainlet, and for that I would be wasting my time explaining such.

Rate, discuss, share, recommend

I have read both Hyperion and Fall of Hyperion about five times, and they never get old. I like the first one a bit better, but don't belive the "Hyperion is the only good one" Meme.

The books combine good action and Sci-Fi with philosophy and poetry.

Let's be clear: Tao Lin is not a good writer

But I think his writing and his moderate success are important in that they show a generational malaise.

Character is substituted with drugs.
Experience with social media.
Philosophy with meaningless chatter between ageing hipsters

The most profound thing about his work is that its characters express a consistent lack of profundity in their own lives and exchanges.

So, how can we fix things?

"hey guys, totally not tao lin here, he sucks by the way, so anyways, doesnt tao lin totally capture the zeitgeist of the millennial generation and will be remembered forever, thoughts, comments, suggestions"

Is this actually good? What is it about? What is it most similar to?

Send your work guys.

Round the drunkards go,
Buzzards not far behind;
Leaders lead, workers woe,
Blind leading the blind.

Insipid procession of mankind,
Thoughtless drones, burning coals;
Heartless hogwash, keep in mind-
The parasitic trolls.

poetry is dead
>>
I was in my room
When a fly appeared
and I caught it
With my bare hands

It fell on down,
And buzz-ed around
As if it was
In a trance.

It buzzed round, and around
The wooden floor-ed sea
Its incessant buzzing,
Had got me to cussing,
I put it out of its misery.

'Twas sad as sad could be.

I thought of the albatross,
and the snake;
And the evil choices,
That men hath make.

It lay there dead,
And motionless on the floor,
There was nothing to be done
Anymore

Did I give him another chance?
Did I do a favor for him?
But who gave us that power,
are we their gods?
Just because of our frame?

(to be continued haven't thought further)

"People who write obscurely are either unskilled in writing or up to some mischief."
- Sir Peter Medawar

Infinite Jest BTFO. The entirety of fashionable modern literature BTFO. And the entirety of the trends that the progressive elites admire, e.g. Freudianism, BTFO.

But a piece of writing that's perfectly ordinary to someone who's good at reading looks obscure do someone who's dumb or hasn't read much.

Are there any books with monologues that portray the mind of an alpha male whose indifference attracts women?

It's been 6 weeks since I broke up with my ex of 2 years and everything seems to remind me of her. However, I recall the smooth prose of Camus and how that managed to make women seem trivial in my mind, and i'm just hoping someone could recommend me something similar

All I can think about is her and finding other women, I really need something to push my mind in the right direction /lit/ :c

Here's the truth

You're never going to forget her. You'll think of her EVERY SINGLE DAY as long as you live. Get used to it. You have to make room for her in your brain, so to speak. Let her live there and you might survive. If you try to throw her out forcefully, she WILL kill you.

It's going to take more time than you think, man. Good Luck. You can do nothing but wait it out. Shift the furniture in your brain a bit and put her in a corner and let her gather dust.

You're alone in this. B'bye. No book can help.

>"Don't you want some cocoa or soup, Harry? Come away from the light of Heaven's easy life. We need such a valiant, beautiful warrior such as yourself here to live and to hack the serpents of evil in two. Hell, into twos; into threes and fours! Your life will be the very envy of Heaven and its slobbery inhabitants. No, Harry, you are meant to stride with us, the living, to course with us and our blood. You are meant to end when your share of that blood turns brown upon the rocks of glory!"
>"You and I shall drink tonight, Harry. We shall drink to life's confines; to life's pearly end, which is the nothingness of death! NOT the perpetual pansyness of Heaven!"
>Dumbledore is shaking with passion. He is beckoning Harry to enter into the sphere of manhood. Harry is all but wrapped in a buffalo skin, dancing and shaking a bow and arrow around a ceremonial fire. His rite of passage is here now. He is like a young Native American, preparing to answer the question of life. Dumbledore is all aquiver, awaiting Harry's answer.
>And Harry answers...
>"Yes."

What did he mean by this?

>First human-Valar babies will in all likelihood be Bombdanoff babies
>said to have 215+ IQ, such intelligence in Middle-Earth has only existed deep in Numenorian schools & Mordor

>He owns Palantir observatories throughout Middle-Earth
>You likely have Bombdarings on you right now
>Bombdanoff is in regular communication with the creator Eru Illuvatar, forwarding the Ainulindale to his closest disciples. Who do you think set up the meeting between Isildur's heir & Gandalf (First meeting between the two) and arranged the wizard's first trip to the Shire in history only a few years earlier to the Baggins hole in Hobbiton?
>He learned fluent moonrunes in under a week
>Kingdoms and empires entrust their gold reserves with the Bomb. There's no gold in Minas Tirith, only the depths of the Old Forest

Are there wizard spells to ward off bullet and artillery? What happens if you nuke Hogwarts?

Hogwarts probably has enough protective magic on it to ward off a nuke.
Didn't they mention in a book that a shotgun blast could kill a wizard as well as anything? Or was that Animorphs?
