a cushy day job

I've been with my wife for 10 years now. We met in high school, and I got her pregnant.
She is and always has been a lazy person and a shit cook. I wouldn't even mind eating shit food if she at least made it on time. But she rarely did.

We'd get into screaming arguments constantly about how lazy and worthless she was. I felt like an asshole for it, but goddamn she was a real piece of work. The only reason I dealt with all this was for the kids, and also because the sex is great.

But one night, I got fed up. Not only did she get drunk, neglect the kids, and made me top Ramen for dinner, but she decided to give me attitude too. She was being real fucking bitchy. So I told my grandparents to keep an eye on the kids and told my wife we were going to go out and have dinner together. I drove maybe 3 blocks to a quiet area (we live in Oregon, it's not hard to find a quiet field) and I got out of the car, went around like I was going to open her door for her and let her out, and I just beat the shit out of her while she was still seatbelted. After a few punches, I asked her if she wanted to go back to her parents. She started screaming and yelling and said yes, so I beat the shit out of her again. Then I asked her what she wanted to do. She finally got smart and said she wanted to go home. So I took her home and dared her to start trouble. I even handed her my cellphone and dialed her mom's number on the drive home. I made her talk to her mom, while daring her to fucking say something.

Before that incident, I had never laid a hand on her. But I had always threatened it. I told her "one of these days, if you don't straighten up, I'm going to lay hands on you."

All my meals have been on time, and she just recently tried to make a meatloaf. It was mediocre, but I was just thrilled that she tried.

Do with this information what you will.

I want to get into the myths, sagas, and folklore of ancient europe particularly Northern Europe and The Anglo-Saxons.

Where should I get started assuming I've got nothing to go on.

Also is Joseph Campbell worth reading?

Continue this poem

A young boy foolish and misguided
Fucked a whore and his penis ignited
Within her womb there came seeds
And little children did she breed

Ever had a point in life where you guys just stopped reading books all together? It's been a while now, i used to indulge in books and material constantly, every day almost. Ofcourse i am studying for my Uni courses everyday but it's just not the same..

Now i find it boring almost, and i'm seeking to read some sci-fi literature or a fantasy book just to completely lose myself and re-ignite that fire. I certainly do miss that raw passion i used to have for writing and reading when it first begun. It depressed me sometimes really...

Just read to show off to people so they can think you're smart and like you. There isn't really any other point so you might as well get to it.

I understand the benefits that come with reading, but i have never done it for other people. I'm a massive fucking geek, but recently i'm obsessed with escapism...playing rpgs, practicing guitar, listening to new music and just getting lost in my own thoughts...but im desperately trying to bring myself back to my studies like i used to.

Perhaps its just a burn out and i need to buy some new interesting books.

>but recently i'm obsessed with escapism
Not to be a communist, but don't call "escapism" something that is part of the capitalist system. There is no escape.

As for your predicament: try a more structured approach to reading. Like "I want to know late XXth c. French literature" better, or "I NEED to know the basics of sociology to understand X better". That helps a lot. Just reading is a road to nowhere, both intellectually and practically.

A liberal Greek homosexual philosophy professor and vegan was teaching a class on Voltaire, known deist
“Before the class begins, you must get on your knees and worship Voltaire and accept that he was the most reasonable being the world has ever known, even greater than Socrates!”

At this moment, a brave, rational, theist mathematician and weeaboo who had studied over 1500 monads and understood the necessity of human and fully supported all metaphysical decisions made by God stood up and held up a rock.

“In which world would this rock be perfect?”

The arrogant professor smirked quite hedonistically and smugly replied “A world free of evil, created by a so-called omnibenevolent, omnipotent, omniscient God.”

“Wrong. It’s been 5,000 years since God created it. If it was created by God and God, as you say, is real… then it cannot match the perfection of the Creator by definition.”

The professor was visibly shaken, and dropped his chalk and copy of Candide. He stormed out of the room crying those tears so reviled by his Stoic contemporaries. It was then that our professor, Epicurus, wished he had spent less time being a useless layabout seeking aponia and only embraced pain, for the greater good.

The students applauded and all became relieved that the misery of their insignificant lives was for a moral necessity. An eagle named “The Best of All Possible Worlds” flew into the room and shed a tear on the hardcover. Théodicée was read several times, and God himself showed up and enacted metaphysical, physical and moral evil for a higher purpose.

The professor lost his tenure and was fired the next day. He died of the gay plague AIDS and was tossed into the lake of fire for all eternity.

In faith of you, my image remains true
Despite the idolatry that sways man,
And when heaven does break, the sky of blue
Shows the fairest of faces you began
While the climb of your eye sits aside twelve
And the clouds sit based, at your feet of gold,
You provide the steps; the heart does dare delve
To hope, yet memory reminds of old:
And tender hearts are scarred by lovely lips
And time’s stain cut deep into memory;
Do starry nights share hope or fall amiss
At the thought of sweet love’s truest beauty?
And if the pious do fall from graces,
Let verse free him, to gaze at heaven’s faces.

Why are the women in Pynchon's works always breaking men's hearts?

>>9360456
what a based cover
>>
>>9360456
Women are simply inferior to the white man and their rightful place is subordinate to an authoritarian, disciplinary white male who decided how she should live - preferably a life devoted to domestic life.

A woman cannot create art; a woman cannot truly be ethical; a woman cannot truly love; a woman cannot truly be loyal.
These are all facts, but will be labelled 'sexist' by liberal brainwashing society because it doesn't fit the narrative of equality.

Women simply aren't as ontologically 'there' as men, they're shallow and lack depth, they're not as self-conscious as man. They aren't properly inscribed into the symbolic text which is why they can only think about Chad cock instead of true good matters and subjects.

Women are an embarrassment. They should stay at home where they belong; they don't deserve power or rights, because they are driven by emotion and will never be anything but inherently evil and destructive qua their inferior natures.
Without their festering mackerel-reeking cunts, they would have been killed off by man a long time ago. Pynchon knows this and shows it. He's redpilled

Anyone want to talk about Hermann Hesse? I recently got into him and I'm having a blast so far.

I started with Siddhartha, then read Demian and Under the Wheel. All three were delightful. I plan to read Steppenwolf next, then Narcissus and Goldmund. I started reading The Glass Bead game, but it's too meta for me right now. I'll come back to it at a later date. Who else likes Hesse here?

Glass Bead Game is probably the best novel of the entire 20th century

even /pol/tards would love it, because he's riffing on Oswald Spengler and other really heady stuff people were talking about in weimar germany. he also anticipates borges and postmodernism in general, etc. but at the same time it's also just an interesting story and has fascinating visuals

his other books are also excellent, they have a lot to offer any reader who feels like he's on some kind of quest
>>
>>9360333
Maybe I'm just a brainlet, but the introduction is repelling me, and I don't want to skip it. Also the book is very long and I would rather get through his shorter works instead of letting this clog up my time. I believe that it is good though, just not my cup of tea for the time being.
>>
>>9360362
yeah it might take time to really plunge into, you should read various people's theories of history to understand where he's coming from. also maybe borges' short stories are easier to read/more obvious? i find it all very fun though.

If English professors studied philosophy with a little more rigor, American English departments wouldn't suck as bad. Most literature classes are just about hacking the classics to death with a bunch of half-understood philosophical ideas.
