POLITICAL THRILLERS

I would like to get into political thrillers but have no idea where to start.

I heard good things about Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy but maybe it's too complicated for a beginner?

What about Tom Clancy?

Are there any titles you would recommend?

Pic related: I wouldn't mind something similar to the Metal Gear series.

The Karla trilogy is really good, read it.

You need a little bit of memory and attention, and to know that Czechoslovakia was part of the Soviet Bloc.

Why aren't you living the Intellectual Life?

Why do you deny that your ultimate goal should be to come as close as possible to the Truth?

>your ultimate goal should be to come as close as possible to the Truth
Man, your head is haunted; you have wheels in your head! You imagine great things, and depict to yourself a whole world of gods that has an existence for you, a spirit-realm to which you suppose yourself to be called, an ideal that beckons to you. You have a fixed idea! Do not think that I am jesting or speaking figuratively when I regard those persons who cling to the Higher, and (because the vast majority belongs under this head) almost the whole world of men, as veritable fools, fools in a madhouse. What is it, then, that is called a "fixed idea"? An idea that has subjected the man to itself. When you recognize, with regard to such a fixed idea, that it is a folly, you shut its slave up in an asylum. And is the truth of the faith, say, which we are not to doubt; the majesty of (e. g.) the people, which we are not to strike at (he who does is guilty of — lese-majesty); virtue, against which the censor is not to let a word pass, that morality may be kept pure; — are these not "fixed ideas"? Is not all the stupid chatter of (e. g.) most of our newspapers the babble of fools who suffer from the fixed idea of morality, legality, Christianity, etc., and only seem to go about free because the madhouse in which they walk takes in so broad a space?

I love fantasy and science fiction, but the OP provides no impetus for the thread. What are you trying to achieve, here? It feels like you're making this as a containment thread out of distaste rather than appreciation.

/sffg/ was once a very active community with hundreds of posters, now it is a rather slow thread that gets posted mostly out of habit. Because things stagnated and people got bored of talking about the same tiny selection of books over and over again. The threads are kept alive by shitposters and people with no lives, and the occasional newfag who wanders in asking for recommendations.

How do you enjoy literature after being spoiled by video games? It's hard to enjoy a purely written artistic medium when you were able to get many similar values, ideas, themes, etc. from those "art" games like Majora's Mask, Dark Souls, Killer 7, and Silent Hill 2. Especially when they have sound direction, art direction, and gameplay direction to compliment the narrative and themes.

maybe if you're comparing video games to harry potter books

look for some richer literature op
>>
>>9356525
You sit down and read.

Video games can't even be compared to literature.

Stop being a pleb and practice focusing your attention span for periods of time longer than a video game respawn and masturbation.

I'm working all day long every day to become a violin virtuoso and a great composer, and I'll be honest, I need some motivation to mantain this crazy productivity.

Any book that would motivate an aspiring artist to mantain their focus on the mastering of their craft?

You are lost. Books can give you method and expose you to thoughts, but your motivation needs to come from music and yourself.

>You are lost. Books can give you method and expose you to thoughts, but your motivation needs to come from music and yourself.

i need no motivation to improvise, play or compose myself: I need motivation for those boring, tedious exercises that any musician has to subject himself to in order to abtain perfect mastery on their craft.

What do you think, that I should be ecstatic when I do roman numeral analysis for 5 years straight? I know why I need to do it, but some motivation could still benefit me immensely.

This dick ain't free
You lookin' at me
like it ain't a receipt
Like I never made end's meet
eatin' your leftovers and raw meat
This dick ain't free
Livin' in captivity
raised my cap salary
Celery, tellin' me green is all I need
Evidently all I seen was spam and raw sardines
This dick ain't free
I mean, baby
You really think we could make a baby named Mercedes without a Mercedes Benz
and twenty four inch rims, five percent tint, and air conditioning vents
Hell fuckin' naw
This dick ain't free
I need forty acres and a mule
Not a forty ounce and a pitbull
Bullshit, matador, matador
had the door knockin', let 'em in
who's that? Genital's best friend
This dick ain't free
Pity the fool that made the pretty in you prosper
Titty juice and pussy lips kept me obnoxious
Kept me up watchin'
Pornos and poverty
Apology? No
Watch you politic with people less fortunate, like myself
Every dog has its day
Now doggy style shall help
This dick ain't free
Matter fact it need interest
matter fact it's nine inches
Matter fact see our friendship based on business
Pension, more pension
You're pinchin', my consensus
Been relentless
fuck forgiveness, fuck your feelings
Fuck your sources, all distortion
if we fuck it's more abortion
More divorce courts and portion
My check with less endorsement left me dormant
Dusted, doomed, disgusted, forced with
Fuck you think is in more shit
porcelain pipes pressure, bust 'em twice
Choice is deaf, a state of decapitated the horseman
Oh America, you bad bitch
I the picked cotton that made you rich
Now my dick ain't free

Derrida is so useless, you can tell he didn't have anything real or revolutionary to say so he just resorted to mental masturbation that really doesn't lead anywhere. That's why people who like him can never express why he's so important, it's because he doesn't offer anything of actual substance.
