Greatest author of late capitalism or just another pretty face?

pics or gtfo

...I mean at this point it just looks like another bandanna soaked with cum. I have nothing to prove it's his but it definitely is. I bought it from one of his former conquests before he died. she sells them online.

This is what motivated Tolstoy, who was writing for a newly literate populace. Authors can have good ideas, whether their fiction is to your taste or not.
Hey lit I would like to learn to read German I do not need to learn how to speak it but I would like to learn how to read it. So that I may read German philosophers in their original language Kant, Nietzsche etc any programs (preferably free) or suggestions on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.

>I do not need to learn how to speak it

This is the stupidest thing I read this year and (sadly) I'm on 4chan quite a lot. Unless you are actually 12 years old you should strongly consider suicide at this point.
bump for interest

You can use google translate, you cheap fuck. Just look up every word you know on english and it's german equivalent
I want to write, and I think I have at least a little talent, but I cannot for the life of me think of a plot that I am motivated to see through. I'm currently considering trawling the bible and assorted mythologies to look for an outline I can twist a little.
Any advice? Alternatively feel free to throw random words or images at me. Maybe they will spark something.
>feel free to throw random words or images at me

a lithuanian bisexual in 2054 is crippled with unfulfillnment, he ironically creates a cult and it becomes all too real
you have 45 minutes, give me a short story writerboi
>>9397869
I don't think I can write a short story in that time frame but I did have fun looking at Lithuanian names. Ironic cult gone wrong is also a fun concept.

Fantastic word.
what's the best opening chapter in literature? pic unrelated
Moby Dick
>>9397710
The first canto of the Divine Comedy is pretty great
Best opening line ever written: man is born free but everywhere he is in chains
Gather up your worst, boys. Have not seen one of these in a couple weeks.

Good idea.
What are some good non-fiction books to help me learn about modern current events?
Read multiple news sources. Current events are always happening.
I seriously recommend Cleveland's history of modern middle east. I had to study it in University, and it's truly amazing in its analysis and explanation of modern middle eastern history. It will give you in-depth knowledge about all current events and political developments
The entirety of Foucault.
/lit/, has anyone had problems focusing while reading? I have not done it for a while but I think I have ruined myself with multitasking and over stimulation from gaming and watching shows at the same time. I find my attention spam is that of a goldfish. Anyone overcome this, should I start meditating a bit before reading? And of course obviously stop doing multiple things at once.
>>9397580
yeah, I jerk off and my mind is free of thought so I can quietly read my book.
>>9397594
No jerking off, not an option.
>>9397669
You post-op?
I like the story but I can't fucking stand all the high school sophomres going on and on, spouting, "Yo dawg, it's just like [our current political situation, regardless of year]. We're basically living in oceania right now." Are there no other good dystopia books for kids to obsess themselves with, or is this just a problem of high school cramming the same ten books down everyone's throat?

when really our modern society is much more like brave new world
It is though. It predicted endless war, total surveilance, manipulation of language, and fabrication of history. Brave new world just predicted "muh hedonism", and 1984 had that aspect anyway in the prole classes
Stop being a countersignalling faggot
>>9397408
I'd say so, yeah, in that BNW felt much more like a reflection of a neo-liberal society to the extreme. But again, I feel like I'm walking on egg shells because usually what follows discussions of those books are pissing contests of who knows their political terminology better.
>oceania is fascist
>no oceania is communist
>no it's fascist because of x y z
>yeah but it's communist because a b and c
At that point you might as well just stop bringing the book up.
Book suggestion thread, name 3 books you've recently read and enjoyed and anons recommend a book.
Lolita, The Bell Jar & Fahrenheit 451

>Stopped halfway through the book cuz I was bored af.
Do I have salvation? I really liked the idea of reading in my free times.
What would you recommend to a nearly autistic guy with short attention span?
come on bro everyone knows stephen king shit only really gets spooky like 1/3rd of the way in, the rest is just comfy slice of life in maine
>>9397399
Pretty much. I remember liking the stand but the first part lasted a bit long.
>>9397393
>What would you recommend to a nearly autistic guy with short attention span?
Suicide. Preferably livestreamed with the choice of method decided by a public poll.
I bought this on impulse.. did I pleb out /lit/?
Every book is worth a read, even if you hate it.

Sam Harris is at his best rationally deconstructing current events. When he gets into new-atheism-as-new-age-dogma i turn him off.
How much reading time does having an easily available Internet connection takes up from you?
>>9397305
The only thing I do online is read, so none.
>>9397305
plenty. if i didn't have the ability to cool down from challenging texts by shitposting, i would probably be reading informal articles/genre fiction.

>Dante's courtly love for Beatrice continued for nine years, before the pair finally met again. This meeting occurred in a street of Florence, which she walked along dressed in white and accompanied by two older women. She turned and greeted him, her salutation filling him with such joy that he retreated to his room to think about her. In doing so, he fell asleep, and had a dream which would become the subject of the first sonnet in La Vita Nuova
