UGH there's no such thing as society!
>tfw have good ideas and my writing is alright, but it's too bland and boring
How do I write with a more carefree style? I want my sentences to all be different and interesting, while maintaining a level of rhythm within my prose. A good example of what I want to achieve is Nabokov. I don't care if you like him or not, but he had a certain "flowery" style that came across as effortless on his part. I've had some short stories published, but they're fucking boring and stale. It's the same sentence structure throughout. I want something more fun. Please, I want to write in a more stylish way. How can I do this, /lit/?

Please, this is serious.

reviewbrah lookin good here
Hey /lit/. I am in serious trouble right now, I used to be able to read many books, hundreds of pages per day, but now it seems that I suddenly have had a brain fog and I forget words and my reading comprehension has simply gone down considerably. What is this, has anyone had it, and is it reversible?

I have experienced this. Fret not, anon. You are aging, and you've recently entered a period in your life in which other occupations consume your time, such as a new job, a new woman, a big move, etc. The challenges of meaningless life require ample attention from our brains, because money and (re)production are the essential elements of survival in a capitalist society.
Understand your mind is finite. Like a jar of piss, it becomes full.
When I realized I'd lost my wits was the night I came across the word apotheosis in Moby Dick. I'd seen it dozens of times, looked it up as many. My brain shot blanks, like I sometime dream my Cock would.
Knowing that I knew the word at some point, I panicked. In fact, I renounced the arts altogether. I resigned myself to wagecuckery and parenting.
Then, randomly, I began meditating. Meditation revealed to me the dilapidated state of my body. Thus I began running. I practiced these activities for weeks.
Let me tell you anon: I am a kid again. The fog of adulthood and all the nonsense data resting like manure in my mind, it faded away. I went clear.
I retain everything now. In fact, I'd elevate myself as a man to the rank of a God.
Meditate. Run. Read. Repeat for a while. Die.

wow, anon. That is really deep. But still that does not solve my problem. What I am worried about, I am sure, is a possibly neurological problem that I must be currently experiencing and of which I know not its cause. Have you any experience with that?
>>9491685
Everyone has felt that way. The vast majority of cases can be fixed by following the other anon's suggestions.
If you truly think you are an exceptional case, then go get your fuckin brain checked out.
Why aren't you working on your philosophical treatise right now?
>>9491433

because philosophy is a hyperrealistic construct susceptible to confirmation bias and little else of rationale

Has the mystery of what a "civinad" is ever been solved?
Most credible theories point to it referring to some kind of citizen or perhaps chancellor

I know that their styles are polar opposites, but can it be said that one is superior to the other?
Yes, Faulkner was better.

It reads so quickly and clearly that youll be sorry when it ends. If (you) like tight novels, however, read Anna.
>According to a New York Times Magazine profile by the novelist Madison Smartt Bell, for a year Vollmann wrote much of his first novel, You Bright and Risen Angels, after hours on office computers, subsisting on candy bars from vending machines and hiding from the janitorial staff.
Is this what they call the literary lifestyle?
I write my novel while I hide from the centipede in my stomach which when it discovers me compels me to masturbate and watch anime. Vollmann and I are very similar except I'm a lot more talented to be totally frankly honestly true and noble intentioned with you my dear fellow.
It doesn't represent the majority, but then again how do we know where majority of writers claim their thinking zone? Me, I just sit at my computer in the middle of the night and re-read the Voluspo for the 100th time, after a good several avocados and milk.

Useful when you drive alone for a long time and you don't want to read one book or want to read it again but you feel too lazy to.
Stop being a lazy fucking child and read without having to get someone else to do it for you.

Yes. You need to find a nice balance; reading too much is just as bad as reading too little.
I am confused. What makes this "poetry?"
I'm not being facetious, but what distinguishes it from an essay or a short story?
Is "The Road" a very long poem too?
Guys help
