How do those of you who work in low end jobs read at work without being made fun of/harassed?

>other workers treat me with suspicion and make jokes (not all of them just a few)
>been reading 'Climate Wars' by Gwynne Dyer which is about the future of Geo-Politics in the world of climate change
>other co-workers are idiots, many deny climate change and make fun of me for it
>they always say things like 'you reading that stupid burger ban book again?' because they think climate change is a conspiracy to ban hamburgers
>have to cover the book in clingfilm because one of them keeps throwing beef patties at the book to try and destroy it
>everytime I try and point out that the book uses actual data and models and interviews with intelligent retired generals they just laugh
>tell them that climate change threatens the food supply
>they always have the same 3 responses
>'it only threatens food because liberals want to destroy cars and we won't be able to use the drive thru'
>'it won't threaten your food supply when I make you eat that book'
>'maybe it threatens the food supply of skinny anorexic weaklings like you who eat ice cubes that will melt'

Is there anything helpful in this book, or did I fell for the self-help jew? After reading the first three chapters, I thought this was all just common sense with anecdotal evidence as filler. I just chapter 5, and it's literally eight pages of anecdotal evidence on why smiling is important.
