Well I started playing source in 2008, so it was just the next step. Resisted for a long time but finally switched. Honestly I was thinking about your question the other day, it must be pretty hard to get in to now and try to actually learn to be decent. Riddled with cheaters, high learning curve, etc. Good thing about source was that without Valve matchmaking, it relied on community servers to stay alive, which is where a large amount of my time was spent. It just isn't the same in csgo, the sense of community decreased significantly.

It helps if you're naturally very competitive and have a desire to master something challenging. Honestly to me, there's nothing quite as satisfying in a video game as headshotting someone in CS.
