It doesn't have to be Christianity, having a relationship with god comes from many cultures, not just Christians, the bible never says you have to be a Christians. Indian heartfelt meditative cultures, gnostics, and various other religions and subcultures have stressed the importance of having god in your life. There is a God that we don't know, that loves everything hes created, including the evil hes allowed. Your whole life being based around if you're attractive or passable enough, in an endless arms race of sex appeal, shows a distinct lack of god.

Try this for a month, meditate for an hour (same time every day) about God, focus one the though of God. Second, a month of talking to god by praying every night (alone in your room) for that month. Make sure you specify that you're talking to the God. Talk to him about what bothers you, what you need help with. And you should get some kind of unexplained answer in your environment, Information that's very specific to your problem. At least that's what happened to me, maybe it will come in another form.
